Oh boy do I love this song!! Pure genius. There is a 2004 video on youtube of the Turner/Murray BTO doing Blue Collar; if somehow we could merge Turner's vocals and bass with Randy Bachman's guitar, we'd have a perfect song. In fact, if Turner and Bachman ever got together I'll bet they'd make a great band. I always think of Blue Collar as a Canadian working class Black Magic Woman. I just don't understand why Blue Collar isn't more popular. Bachman looks great! Clean living I guess.

Sound and video is excellent on this clip. This has always been a favorite of mine since I got the album in 75. His solos here are very close to the actual album's solos. The jazzy end solo is phenomenal and very overlooked by rock guitarists. Thanks for posting.

The guy's almost 70, so let's cut him some slack. Go back and listen to the studio version. That's some brilliant playing at the end of the song.

Keep rockin', Randy! This is better than the original, which I stood in line to buy at Sam Goody's in 1975! :-)

@flyingporcupine2 didn't say that he wasn't legendary, just that he has seen his better days as a guitar player. That's OK, just play the music in your head while you watch him perform, it will be OK.

kind of refreshing to hear the old school of jazz/bluesy guitar way of playing and sounds for a change than all that modern shredding..sweeping and tapping even though i can appreciate the skill involved.

He did a decent job but Fred Turner has one of the greatest voices in rock. Hard to compare.

C.F. Turner sang the vocals on the original, but Randy doesn't sound too bad on it here. I noticed he modulated the highest part of the song down a bit. I guess it's hard to hit those high notes when you're pushing 70 years old! Smokin' guitar work, though!! Great sound quality on this, too.

@darkoanton5 I was at the Crossroads Guitar Festival this year. Jeff Beck played a great set, but the set that Clapton played with Steve Winwood, Chris Stainton (keyboards) and Steve Gadd on drums blew him away, at least that night. They are both great, but to say that Eric Clapton is "hardly in the class of a Jeff Beck when it comes to guitar playing" just has no basis in fact, and just shows more clearly that you don't know what you are talking about.

Great tune... but I don't like the way they changed the bridge to the chorus line.

Everyone might have a bad night, but the bad note at 3:27 speaks volumes about his alleged greatness. This is his signature song and he can't play it cleanly?

So he doesn’t bend a note as high as usual, one note in a live performance, and his whole career reputation is a lie as far as you are concerned? Seems kind of harsh. And entirely untrue.
