Randy is a national treasure to the art of rock & roll & I love his music.I remember way back in the day I heard that some stupid music critic had said that BTO was not so great & a monkey could be trained to play better music than BTO. Like Beavis & Butt-head would say, “what a dumb ass !

I play guitar because of that man. I've played air guitar even longer because of Randy. I know the first 4 BTO albums backwards and forwards. Thank you Randy Bachman for all your beautiful, badass music. You are a giant.

Am glad to hear he’s around. I saw him play live solo about fifteen years ago and was floored by how good he still sounds. Props to him.

I saw Randy at a Joe Cocker/The Guess Who concert, 2008. Portland, Oregon. Randy was the Special Guest guitar player! I got to hear Guess Who, BTO and Joe Cocker songs, it was so so good!!!

I saw Randy do one of his 'fireside chats' in Toronto a few years back. Great storyteller! His violin training shines through in his guitar solos - an unmistakable smoothness. He formed Ironhorse after BTO broke up. Little sucess, but a fun band.

Thanks RD, I did enjoy learning about Randy's career. My very first concert in the mid 70's was the Guess Who. I was around 11 years old and my older sister and her boyfriend took me. I can't remember who opened but I do remember everyone sat in chairs and stood up after each song and applauded. Boe

Excellent short bio. I loved Randy's "every song tell's a story" from his vinyl tap gig. Brought back memories , especially the Guess Who stuff, I was around 13-14 when their hits came out (1967-70 area). I love Randy's entire story from Guess Who to BTO and up to now.

Randy is successful because he lives right, walks the straight and narrow and has been rewarded for that over and over and over. After all of the rewards he has recieved, he should be honored with one more for just being one fine man among men!

Thanks. I always liked the Guess Who and BTO. Saw The Marshall Tucker Band blow the GW away minus Randy though, and they had the stones to play his leads on tape! If the rest of BTO went and saw Elvis then wouldn't that have included his brothers? Since Randy never has done drugs and the other guy that claims to have played the piano on taken care looks like he's enjoyed his fair share, I'm gonna go with Randy's version of the story the way he saw it. Also if he wasn't a pizza delivery guy then why did they find him working for a pizza place? What I think happened was pizza player was delivering pizzas first encounter. Got off work and came down as a session musician hoping for exactly what happened, a chance to play piano on that song. That is all I got:)

I talked to Robin ...Randy's kid brother that has recently passed away (BTO's drummer) and C.F. Turner and they both told me that whole pizza story was an outright lie. Norman Durkee was a session musician and had a long career writing comercial jingles and opera musicals....He never was a pizza delivery guy and both said they were very embarrassed that Randy would make up such a story.

Is a Fender champion 100 considered a TWIN?
@RiverDocs
@RiverDocs Жыл бұрын
I don't know. I've never heard how one sounds. But the Twin was a tube amp and that Champion is solid state with onboards effects. As far as power wise I think the old Twins were around 80 watts. Both amps run 2-12 speakers. I guess they are close in that respect, but the difference in tube and solid state sound to my ears isn't very close..but that's just my opinion.

River Docs again you tell a great bio story . Hint you have dropped hints of your place of residence in the past productions . Thus I am sure you put in two montage spots at @ 2:15 and 7:29 for sentimental content . Hint - photo promo shots with the four band members one has a very specific t-shirt well known to our area . Lets see if the rest of the commenters can identify that very item . Especially the people from St. Louis .
