They were both amazing in this show, it's criminal that this production didn't move to broadway. great quality video, A+ performances

I'm playing Meg in my schools production so I've been watching tons of videos and this Joe is the best by far. I may or may not also be crushing on him

I've been looking for a well-filmed version of this for ages. The old movie with Gwen Verdon and Ray Walston was great, but they replaced this gorgeous song---really the one that makes the show---with a piece of tripe called "An Empty Chair."

Why were they about to kiss....what the hell? That makes zero sense with Joe Hardy's character...

He wouldn't do that because he is only there to see Meg from the outside as a friend. It would make sense if they kissed in "Near To You" but not in this song. Meg just met a guy and even if she did feel things for Joe she's someone else's wife. In that time it was extremely frowned upon for a wife to cheat on her husband and Meg isn't the type of person to go against social conventions. After 5 minutes of knowing a guy she wouldn't go kissing. She might feel emotions that remind her of when she first met her husband Joe and she might be reminiscing but she wouldn't be trying to kiss him. I realize now that I should have said Meg's character not Joe's but still. Also, I know this because I was Joe Hardy this past spring and the actress who played Meg and I did research and character development
