Randy is both a tremendous talent, and just a great person. I've had the pleasure to meet him, and he was so generous with his time and even shared some tablature of my favorite Zebra song. He rocks!!!

SINCE THE FIRST TIME I EVER HEARD "TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT" BACK IN 1983, I HAVE LOVED THAT SONG. THE MUSIC, THE INTENSITY, THE VOCALS, THE SOLO.. I STILL LISTEN TO IT AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. IT WILL ON AS LONG AS I AM HERE! ( FOR ME ) GREAT JOB RANDY!

Randy just did a gig with my band Sunday night- he did an acoustic thing, we did part of our set, and then he came up and did some Zeppelin with us… the nicest guy you’ll ever meet in the music business.

I remember seeing Zebra in the mid to late 1970's at a bar called The Barrel on Elysian Fields Avenue near The University of New Orleans. My recollection is that the entrance fee was $1 at the time. They surely rocked that place like no other that I had seen. I also saw Randy Jackson at a bar in Slidell, LA many years later. He played a show that was very different but great none the less. What a talent. I am truly stunned that they weren't much bigger than they were. I had their CD's which played constantly and were a soundtrack for my youth and college days.

I saw Zebra as a "Rising Star" band sponsored by Seattle's KISW radio station, in June 1983 they played the Paramount....their opening band was making their live debut.....it was Queensryche.

I was at that show. I didn't know who either band was but my buddy pestered me to go so I went. I remember the red B.C. Rich guitar that Randy played and the striped yoga pants that Geoff Tate wore. I was pretty impressed with Zebra. I know they opened with "As I Said before". A three piece without a real bass player and the Rush/Yes falsetto of Randy. They were definitely in a different lane than Queensryche, who were very showy/make-up wearing.

Excellent work as always Jason! Zebra’s breakout debut lp success- is the foundational reason Jason Flom would go on to have an unprecedented A&R career. The brisk selling of 800k copies is why Doug Morris keeps him around for A&R research and later lets him sign RATT…..& no mention of him signing Twisted Sister right after you & Randy spend all that time talking about TwSis -) Technically they’re a Phil Carson signing outta Atlantic UK office as Jason had tried to sign them for yrs. Doug Morris HATED TwSis and was ready to fire Flom if he ever mentioned them again!) Plus Jason having Diamond sales status debuts by both Matchbox 20 & Kid Rock, which has never matched by any other A&R person. Let us not forget him giving us the gift of White Lion as well as Trans Siberian Orchestra/Savatage and my South FL fave Saigon Kick !-) and that’s just a quickie overview of his Atlantic yrs!) Quick correction(s)- Stone Temple Pilots were signed out of the LA office by Tom Carolan. Flom wasn’t involved w/ them. As well, Jewel was also signed out of the LA office by Jenny Price. Jewel was such a big bidding war that the highest level executives did have to get involved- that would've been a combination of Ron Shapiro (LA)/Doug Morris (NYC). Wikipedia is 💯 incorrect on crediting Flom w/ STP as well as Hootie & the Blowfish, as they’re a Tim Sommer signing (NYC). LUV ya man! Keep up the lord’s work 🤘🏻
