** WARNING - BAD LANGUAGE FROM 'THE VIPER' RANDY ORTON ** Just stumbled across this old interview I did with a very annoyed Randy Orton! This was one of my first WWE interviews and let's just say the atmosphere changed when I brought up rumours about the fan attack in South Africa being a work. He did NOT appreciate it!
Fair play to Randy, this was soon after that horrible incident during the live event so clearly the anger hadn't subsided yet... certainly not when I suggested he 'sold' for the attacker.
I was so panicked by his annoyance I forgot my shoe size!! Hahaha. I'm size 11 and I told him I was a size 6. I couldn't think straight! Haha. Watch to the end, it's hilarious. After this horribly awkward encounter, I wipe my sweaty brow only to be approached by Hornswoggle for an interview!! Only in WWE! Haha.
I'm pleased to say I've since had lots of very nice interviews with Randy. He's a great guy and has always been lovely with me... this was just a particularly bad first impression! But what a difference in him we see nowadays compared with 8 years ago!

I used to be an auto racing writer and my biggest deal ever was being a media member for the Daytona 500. (basically the biggest thing in NASCAR racing) I had to interview a driver who will remain nameless because it's not their fault, and asked them a really good question, which I worded REALLY poorly. Now in my case I had no formal journalism education. Every step I'd had to learn on a trial by fire basis. Well when the nerves get the best of you, you don't really perform at your best. And I royally pissed off a certain high profile driver with a major candy sponsorship (there's the one hint). I felt embarrassed and stupid the rest of the day and just kept my head down in the media center buried in my computer screen lol. We all do it at some point, it's inevitable that something at some point we do will piss a subject of our questioning off. It's what you learn from the experience and take forward with you that counts in those moments. That's how you improve.

@@TheCursedDay I've heard a LOT of people say that. And I concur. And Judging by the description, yeah. You do know lol. That being said, he's a VERY nice guy when the pressure of being at his job (we DO need to remember it's their job at the end of the day) isn't on him. Problem is, his job puts his face in front of 2 million people a week and that tends to shape opinion...

Yeah... I’d be pissed off too. As “smart” as we are... we can ask some dumb questions sometimes... or just not show general empathy... especially as a man to another man about getting kicked in the junk lol. Sometimes fans get hyped up and jump in the ring... it happens and it’s dangerous for performers... and fans. We should be glad that nothing worse happened then that.

You acted too much like a know it all here. It works with the sweet guys like Bryan, Kofi etc, but behave like this with the straight shooters and you'll get called out. Hopefully you learned your lesson, very embarrassing and overly tryhard, although I believe you've improved since, perhaps been humbled a little and dropped the arrogance. You basically called Randy a fake and it was a ridiculous question. It's on you my friend, lucky Randy didn't slap you around.

@@cbh49er I mean, they had a shitty rapper at WM2021 so.... Common sense ain't common in WWE. I'm merely pointing out that there have been "fan" works over the years. Mysterio's son's involvements over the past 2 years have all been works. Not to mention, over the years, several wrestlers have debuted audience members. ANNNNDDDD WWE is known to "test" certain storylines at house shows to see how well they get over.
