Saw the first tour at the age of 14, fell in love with Randy's tone and skill. My teacher would teach a song or how to read/play from the sheet and after this concert I was "'TEACH ME CRAZY TRAIN". We ended up learning it together over 3 lessons and the guy died not months later. It broke both our hearts

I'm not so sure it's tempo related. This is when they first started playing it live. They recorded it and finish recording by the end of March of 1981, the same year. This was the very beginning of when they first took it out on the road live, so this tempo may be natural speed unless someone knows for a fact that it's not.
