The guys find a TON of elk before opening day in Wyoming! Randy Newberg, Beau Baty, and Mike Spitzer are heading deep into the backcountry of Wyoming for a bull elk hunt. The crew is taking llamas in from Wilderness Ridge Trail Llamas. They are heading in a few days before the season opens with high hopes of finding a few bulls for the guys to go after on opening day!

Everytime I watch your episodes, it makes me more determined to use my Howas! Last year, I used my 243 model 1500, and bang bang, 2 axis hits the dirt, then I had 2 of them to dress and butcher! This year, I am having a hard time trying to decide if I want to use my 308 or my oldest Howa 30/06 that came with a single stage trigger. Since the 308 is a 24 inch bull barrel and the 30/06 has a 22 inch #2 contour barrel, I'll just take em both! One for shots across Wheatfield, and the 06 for prowling around. I've been an avid hunter and reloading fool for 40 years, and that there old ought six is just as good if not better than the new ones. Excellent rifles.

I always was enthralled with the idea of packing lamas until I saw you having to carry your gun and pack yourself. Thinking I would invest in some mules instead. BTW you produced another excellent video.

Getting into archery range with a rifle is a blast. I’ve killed 1 elk with a bow at 40 yards. I’ve killed an elk with a rifle at 10 yards. Too me that’s more fun then archery.
