In this episode of Fresh Tracks, we are hunting public land bulls in the peak of the rut in Nevada. Scott Jones has an archery tag and will be bowhunting bugling bulls in the mountains. Joining him are several friends along for the hunt to help call and glass and potentially share the load of a packout.
Scott has been a great friend of Randy's for many years, being unable to join him on this hunt Randy sent field producer Michael Parente to document the trip. They don't have any problem locating bulls, and many being large mature animals.
Using a combination of glassing the open hillsides and trying to call a bull in within shooting distance, they get plenty of encounters. With any luck Scott hopes to fill his tag by arrowing a public land bull elk.

Goes to show it's not all about the kill or even meat in the freezer! Scott is a great sportsman in my book. Cool vid......getting me excited for this fall!

I usually do not comment. Love your content as usual! I have really only watched the day by day series, and not the "cleaned" up Amazon versions. I feel there were a few too many adds in this one. Personally, I did like the day by day "rough cut" version of this hunt better. Just my two cents. Keep the content coming, I guess I'm gonna watch it with or without the adds!

Definitely a tough area to bow hunt. Great footage and well documented. I was on the edge of my seat through this video. It's all about the hunt not always the kill. I only have a few guys that ever hunted with me. As I get older and more broken, I realize I should have worked less and hunted more. The good Lord has blessed me with a home family and elk and deer for the freezer nearly every year. My grandson has gotten me back in to shooting my bow this spring. I was looking forward to September and now am not. Another fusion on a level of my spine will likely sideline me. I will have to rely on my laptop to hear the bulls this year.

I've hunted elk for 20 years and haven't seen as many bulls as you saw in 6 days! Amazing! Thanks for sharing and thanks for not flinging arrows - no shots is better than a bad hit.

Hey Mr Randy Happy New Year- might you have a video showing your bow and arrow set up? The bow you use and the peripherals? It’s been 20 years since I sold my Hoyt starter bow and I would like to get back into it for target shooting and exercise purposes. It’s been awhile since I have hunted.

Scott is one of the favorite personalities to appear on this show. Glad to hear he's whuppin' the health issues, too. Great job producing, Michael. Always enjoy your work and the b roll footage is 'added value' to the whole. Those night time Nevada skies, huh? Wow!

Lance Benton Roy would have known Randy’s uncle Elt because he ran the saw mill in Gardnerville. Randy was the graveyard boiler operator at the mill when he was going to UNR.
