I started my hunts for Whitetail in Ohio. This year I am finally hunting Elk in Colorado since I am stationed here and I also spent 3 years in Alaska where the military taught me everything thing y'all went over. Glad to see it getting reinforced more. Thank y'all.

Thanks John for explaining the concept of their product design and how to use them and how to get the best benefit out of them. I’ve recently jump into hunting , and have already been a big fan of Sitka and bought a bunch of their garment and gear. Not because I can brag to my buds that I own some fancy gears, but it’s because their products’ quality just make you wanna have more of them. I have been huge fan of high quality outdoor brands and their products such as The North Face, ArcteryX , Gore-Tex etc. I must say that I should have gotten to know Sitka gear way earlier 😅

I love Sitka gear ! I am deep down the Sitka rabbit hole. Own everything in EV 2 And I just jumped down the sub Alpine rabbit hole 🕳️ last year. I got well over $10k invested over the last 5-7 years. Hands down best gear out there. All the people that bash it are people that don’t own any. I never met a person who owns Sitka gear and told me they didn’t like it

I think this sitka clothing system is awesome, however I`d have to take out a bank loan just to pay for it. LOL.

I wear close to the exact same pieces of clothing from September pronghorn to November elk. I’d probably take away a couple on his list and add socks, boots, and a hat.

Randy you turned me onto Sitka Gear. All I can say is, thank you! Expensive... yes. But 100% worth it. My late season Musky fishing and whitetail hunts have completely changed since I made the switch to Sitka Gear. Lighter weight, warmer, less bulky, and incredibly comfortable compared to standard cold weather gear. I'll never go back to carhartt BS.

We recently started carrying Sitka and we get the " that's expensive " line all the time, then I ask how much gear they have that they don't wear and what's the total expense of it , silence.. since here in Ontario it's pretty much all the same terrain and habitat, one set works for turkey deer and moose,by just changing baselayers.

Did I hear him right about the puffy vs. the Jetstream, where the puffy should be outside? I’ve always thought the wind layer (Jetstream) went outside the puffy to keep the wind out of all your layers, but that’s opposite of what I believe John said.
@jaredjensen2343
@jaredjensen2343 9 ай бұрын
I always thought the same. He attributes it to be because of the compression of the down which minimizes the warm air pockets the puffy creates. Even with a larger roomier fit jetstream there would be some compression of the insulation layer so he says it’s warmer to have it on the outside. I haven’t tested it yet since I’ve always done it the opposite similar to you but I can see the train of thought

While I’m sure that Sitka gear is great, I just can’t bring myself to buy it because it’s so expensive. I will keep buying Walmart camo and Cabelas rain gear when it comes on sale.

Well what about the money. Killing has a lower price range and it's not that bad for out western hunting but I've been a sitka guy for a long time but I'm thinking about going killing camo for my next just cause it's cheaper

As "technical hunting clothing" goes, all that really matters is what it's made out of. Weight, wicking, and warmth are the chief concern in my personal opinion. There are other companies out there that make hunting clothing that checks these boxes, and aren't as expensive as Sitka. Honestly, I think with sitka, what your really paying for is the proprietary camo pattern. This is where I think these companies really make their money. They are ALWAYS coming out with new wizbang patterns. Camo is cool, and sitka has one of the best patterns on the market, as concealment goes, I'm sure it's the best. That said, camo isn't the end all be all. You can hunt wearing M80 woodland camo and be fine. All camo has to do is breakup your outline, and match the color tones of the area your hunting, that's it. Every pattern blobs up at a distance. You can even get by on solid colors that are of similar color tones of your surroundings, the deer and elk won't care. Sitka is cool as hell, but I'll never buy it.

One word: WOOL The more, the better. Definitely base layers, socks, and mid layer shirts should be wool. Nothing else even comes close to competing with wool.
