Range+Chrony Test: Nerf RaptorStrike (Accustrike Sniper)

Its a looker not a sniper and while the data may be funky, the performance with accustrikes exceeds my expectations FPS wise but has ranges as expected.

The reason the accustrike darts chronographed better but preformed worse is because the accustrike darts had a better barrel fit than the used elites so the initial velocity of the accustrike is better. The reason elites generally preform better is because there tip is optimized for distance. Since the chronograph is so close the accustrike tips don't have time to drag any more than the elites do meaning that if they were both new they would get around the same crono readings but since the accustrike darts are newer they have a better barrel fit and get a better initial velocity. But if they were both new and tested for distance elites would obviously win because the accustrike darts would have time to drag more than the elites... Did that make any sense, I hope I did a good job explaining because I think it's pretty interesting and neat

It's interesting, elite darts have good velocity retention as far as a foam dart goes, but the weight distribution is terrible for hitting the broad side of a barn. In flywheel systems, a similar phenomenon occurs in lower crush cages - koosh darts get better FPS than everything else, including elite. Most will attribute this to the denser foam. Once you get to higher crush flywheel systems, however, the foam diameter of elite seems better suited and you get crazy readings like 163 FPS averages with elites (41.5 OFP cage, FoamBlast's new Fang motors, and worker wheels). Obviously you won't hit the side of a barn from inside the barn, but it's interesting.

My theory is that the Elites don't engage the AR entirely because their heads are squishy and shorter than Accustrike darts, so the dart tooth doesn't push them all the way in. Like I said though, that's just a theory.

That ridiculous arrel shroud might also impact performance. Since elite darts tend to curve, and that shroud is really long, they may be hitting it, and the shroud not being optimized to keep the darts going, would drastically slow down darts.

38ft flat is pretty standard for most blasters lets face it you dont buy something like this for the performance anyway its all about the style points. There is plenty of mod potential in this platform and a gorgeous shell there will be someone willing to turn this into a monster just give it time.

I don't think it'll be better than a Retaliator in performance without an expanded plunger tube - which a Retal can fit as well. I'd say your best bet is to shove an air tank in it, a sealed breech, and HPA the thing.
