Exactly, this is real life detailing. And 99% of general car owners would say "wow, it's like new again!" Yes, it could have had a 3-stage buff'n'polish to be perfect - but it's clearly used every day, so realistically, why(?!) Congrats on your clean car! 😊 Guru, you did a great job! 😉

I get similar stuff on my wheels. It's caused by the copper grease most mechanics put on before reinstalling the wheels after more major work. The grease stops them sticking to the hub so you can remove them easily. Then brake dust settles on top

I can relate to this so much... I bought a used set of rims for my car once that had a similar caked-on brake dust - I don't think they were ever cleaned from the inside. It took me like 6-7 hours and I managed to scrub like 99% of it off but there were moments along the way that made me want to cry... I went at it with the iron fallout remover, some brushes a LOT of elbow grease and a... kitchen sponge which I realize is not the best for the paint there but: 1. It's not like my Astra is a showroom car and 2. How often do people really look at the inside of a rim? Afterwards I applied some wheel wax and now i'm just staying on top of it so it doesn't cake on like that again.

@TerrificFlow
@TerrificFlow 5 жыл бұрын
for wheel like this, i would prefer using a stronger product, like an acid based wheel cleaner, instead of the two step degreaser+ bilberry. Bilberry in my opinion is fine for wheels with light to medium brake dust, but when it comes to trashed rims on sports car with corrosive brake dust it shows its limit. After all it's a degreaser, even at low dilution which won't be effective in the case of wheels that don't get cleaner often.

Another calming and informative video Guru. Great stuff. My OCD wouldn’t let me leave the crusty stuff on the wheel still and I have a couple of clients where, as it’s hidden away inside the wheel, they can’t see it. I want to do the right thing, but have shied away from the magic erasers. Is a magic eraser the only thing that will remove the crusty, baked on brake dust you didn’t remove or are there other ways? Your input would be much appreciated on this. Thanks.
