Buy the Jag, it’s good to get challenged from time to time. Re: Metal fatigue. Many years ago, I worked for Hawker Siddley in Hatfield UK. My office window overlooked the water tank they used to test the hulls of the doomed Comet aircraft before they knew about metal fatigue. The windows of the plane were square shaped, the cracks happened in the corners.

Not sure it was so much the shape of the windows (although Boeing changed the early 707 designs to oval windows from square). It was the riveting processes that started the cracks on metal that was too thin for the pressures being applied and disapplied.
@johnmoruzzi72363 ай бұрын
@@1chish They added an aerial and the drilling for that started the crack but the window shape was significant.
@1chish3 ай бұрын
@@johnmoruzzi7236 Sorry that was not what the official report found after they created the world first submerged pressure test. A synopsis of the tests revealed: * G-ALYU was placed inside the tank * All internal cabin fixtures were removed and replaced with weights * ‘YU’ had already completed 1121 Passenger flights * ‘YU’ had completed 10 pressurised flights with de Havilland plus other tests * A further 1826 simulated cycles were completed before fatigue failure of the pressure cabin from a crack growing from a rivet hole at the forward port escape hatch One conclusion was the rivet holes were punched not drilled and this led to fatigue cracks. An early Comet 2 was also put under the same testing (it had rounded windows) and the failures were in riveting not the windows.

Driving on the left hand side of the road is a direct result of being conquered by Napoleon Bonaparte. He was left handed. Another wonderfully funny and informative video. I think I will eventually upgrade from my current L320 to an L405, hopefully by then I'll remember to check if this recall has been done as I'm in the UK but for the moment I've still got a lot of miles to put on my Bianca, she's only done 99,500ish. ❤

Driving on the left side of the road is natural especially when going around a roundabout as nowhere in the world do you see a clock going backwards unless it’s f….ked. I hope you get the XJL and discover the little knock is just the pathetic drive gear on the supercharger. Excellent content. Was that one click or two 🤔🤪😂

Guys love the channel.....get an early L460 rather than the jag....the jag won`t reward you for any work you do!

As soon as I heard supercharged I was happy. Do the jag, it’ll be great content and still keeps it in the family!

What you found is really alarming! The mechanical design of this part is bad - it is a predetermined breaking point by design! This design could only work with forged steel but not with aluminum. Be very glad that you found it. Thanks for this great video!

Well done for finding out about this issue in your country and I think it’s very bad that this hasn’t been looked into by Land Rover all over Europe or in fact all over the world it’s obviously a problem that needs resolving. You’re right though when you drive on the correct side of the road the recalls come thick and fast 😉

Absolutely get the Jag! As long it doesn't cause a divorce of course. Would love to seen content on it.

A Jag might create too much content.

It never ceases to amaze me how car companies try to bury their heads in the sand about issues with their products (especially JLR - issues with the Ingenium diesel timing chains ignored). You can see the influence of bean counters when they identify an issue in 1 country but fail to see these things are likely in all countries.

The xj is a beauty it just needs some tlc. If it's meant to be the opportunity will not go past you. Great show once again what a serious catch in today's episode many thanks on pointing it out it could save people's life's.

Great vid Dean. It's got to be about the best rush ever when a bass hits a live mackerel especially if you can watch it happen. The ultimate catch in my opinion.

Keep an eye on it in the future, and may think about a crack test at some point. 👍🙋♀️

I loved your video. Especially the bits about wheel thieves. Here in England they say Germans have no sense of humour. Obviously you are proof that is not true. 👍
