I've had a Velar SE P380 for about three months now. Its amazing to drive and the amount of looks you get for driving a brand new range is incredible. MSRP for mine was 83 not including taxes or warranty.

SoluriZe it’s been good few small issues all just covered by warranty. Services are expensive, just had my three year maintenance one and it cost me 2000 from dealership.

@@CruuushaL initially since it was a brand new model they had problems with the defroster and temperature settings. also had an issue with auto start/stop where it would drain the small battery really quickly so it would stop working within a couple days after getting it fixed. Thats all fixed now and no issues at all. Besides that its just been oil changes and fixing a curbed wheel and getting a new windshield after getting a decently sized rock chip on the highway. the three year maintenance is basically replacing all fluids and filters on the truck so that it keeps running smooth. its a dealership thing, if your eventually going to sell the truck its recommended to get everything done through the dealer so you can have the record of proper services when it comes time to sell. you could go to a third party mechanic and get them to do all the same things for cheaper but you may lose resale value.

Went to the dealership and it is a great looking car. Seriously, Range Rover designs the best looking SUVS period! My only concern, the leg room in the back seats. It is a litte crowded in the back seats.

Andrea, if you got Range Rover to make those changes they desperately needed to do, then thank you. The Velar is awesome now but when the Sport is updated it will be interesting to see how that fight ends, suspect the Sport will win, especially with the engine choices it has.

Sport is still a bit pricier. Velar is a weird market but honestly it is a little for the younger/city folk but not as quite as much as the evoque? Not sure how to describe it.

One class act from Land Rover , I am waiting to see the new Defender its only been 50 years hasn't it , and with Land Rover contemporary ability I am fascinated with what they are to come up with and hope its as brilliant as the Velar and the I Pace .

Range Rover integrated the touchscreen significantly better than other brands. Also someone gets a thumbs up at JLR for having the decency to keep a physical volume knob despite the fancy dash. There is minimalist, and then there is minimalist with style & thought. I feel this SUV will be very popular, despite the somewhat high price. The real question, will it unseat the Cayenne & X5?

Loving the Trolls on here. I currently drive the 2012 Range Rover Evoque. It’s a wonderful vehicle I see my dealer once a year for maintenance. I will be getting the 2018 Velar in exactly the same package that you have Santorini Black with the Black Package. Looking forward to it.

Great review and love the car! I'd have this over a Porsche Macan or even Cayenne any day. The Porsche SUV's look like re-badged Hyundai's with the bubble styling. The Range Rover just looks so much more modern and sophisticated.

In Europe the Velar is offered with the D300 V6 Diesel engine (300 hp) and it's superb!

The F-Pace and Velar are both on the D7a platform, which is JLR's car platform, also used for the XF & XE. Range Rover & RR Sport are on the D7u platform, which is the off-road platform.

Very good reviewer, the one reason I can see why he doesn't have more subs is because he talks about Diesel. Most buyers in the US don't buy diesel cars. I would have liked to hear about the 4 cylinder gasoline engine.

RR needs to offer the Velar with the 300D engine in Canada (it's already available in other vehicles) ... only then would I buy one (I told the dealer that). Love the look of the Velar but our Macan S is such a terrific car for us being fast and so much fun to drive.

I've been able to configure a fully-loaded the Velar in certain configurations to where it tops out at $80k or a little over that. A fully-loaded Range Rover Sport can be anywhere from $92-$96k. There can be a price gap between both models. And the Sport can have heated & cooled front & rear seats, while the Velar can only have heated & cooled front & heated rear seats, but not cooled rear seats. So besides that I'm sure there's other differences as well

We had a down placed on the velar when the new cayenne was announced so we decided to go visit a porsche dealership and see what they had to say. The salesman himself was excellent in explaining everything but when we stated that we already had a down on a velar he said "don't waste your time here because the Velar is way better looking although not as fast as the Cayenne S your getting a lot more for your money" Ive had my Velar for about three months and I'm loving it,

Don’t forget, it’s 92k but it’s fully equipped. When you equip them sport the same way you go well above 110k. And the Porsche same thing. Starts at 92k .. naked. You almost don’t get floor mats. So Velar fully equipped all day.

NO WAY i cant believe you cant get the v6 in the states, we have the choice here in uk of the 4 cylinder with coil spring suspension with optional air suspension at over £1000 extra or v6 with air suspension as standard, you will probly get the v6 in a few years time as they are probly just monitoring how well it will sell there across the pond as it being a completely new vehicle, as obviously they know these vehicles will sell very well here in uk/europe

Key note was when he said you are paying for the range rover badge, let's be honest with all of these high end cars that is all you are paying for. You can get the same tech and better horse power in other brands for much less. And in some cases better quality, these high end brands live in the service center.

i just brought the v6 diesel in red which here in uk costs me with all my options £65,000 otr, base model here starts at £45,000, i looked at the jag f-pace & discovery sport, but i chose the velar due to its amazing interior, & great exterior looks, it didnt even consider the new discovery as 1.. its too ugly to live with & drive around & 2 ... it starts at over £2000 more than the velar

The engines are the issue.. the 180hp 4 cylinder diesel is really to slow (i think 220hp would be reasonable).. 240hp are really nice for the petrol and diesel but it’s still a 4 cylinder.. the competitors (Q7, GLE, X5) have V6 diesels in that power range. Well there is a 300hp one but that’s again more expensive etc
