You made an interesting but good point about the cylinders. I just bought a 2020 Mercedes GLE 450 SUV. It has 6 cylinders but the more popular 350 has only 4 cylinders. And I’ve heard that it does quite well in terms of performance. I think today’s 4 cylinders coupled w turbo and electric motors are much much more powerful and efficient than the 4 cylinders of old days. Also, you’re right about people who buy these luxury SUVs. It’s more about the luxury than pure performance. Sincerely, a Yankee (New York city). 😆

Great Review!! I currently own this Velar only the wheels are different ( same color as body) . I seriously look forward to my drive every day . And I drive a lot . 36,700 miles on her. Flawless ! Except for the sometimes slow touch display. If I could drive anything this would and is my number 1 choice . Love it !

Great review Anna. I do love the looks of the Velar. I'm shocked with the performance especially being a 2L and being a big vehicle but I guess a lot of car manufactures have the ability to get big performance in smaller engines. I remember back in the day when I started driving people it was cool to have a 1.6L hatchback that pushed out 90BHP or so, now there are cars with a 1L with more BHP. Sorry I got a bit sidetracked, Range Rover does have buckets of class and like I said I do love the looks of the Velar. Well, All the best and have a good weekend. :-)

Shaking 63 Yeah you might be right about these small engines not lasting for a long time but it does surprise me how much BHP that they get out of these engines. Don’t get me wrong I do love big engines. It’s a shame that car companies are getting forced down this route by EU/ UK and probably even more countries to hit eventually 0 carbon emissions target and that’s the way are going.

Anna, these are so high end these days, with almost too many toys, especially when compared to the original Range Rover. I remember the launch way back. It was outstanding at the time, there was nothing similar on the market. I feel makers are running out of ideas on what to add to their models these days. The original, I think even had wind up windows. How times have changed.

Velar is gorgeous! If I was to consider an SUV the Velar SVA would be on top of the list... I was hoping your video was going to be about it, not the peasant P300... But still looks great... Anna on Roads yes, working on it... the border opening, that is... But Australian government - and Victorian state government even more - have a kill policy on travel enforced... My guess is it won’t happen for international travel until maybe towards the end of the year 😢 Ha, I can’t say that I love SUVs, but IF I was to consider one, it would be a Velar, the right Velar that is... Or maybe an Audi RSQ8, kind of a fake Lamborghini, and I would drive any Lamborghini, even an SUV one... Except that would create an argument with my wife, she says the Urus is reserved for her... 😋

I seen 5 year old used Range Rovers here in the US sell for less than 15k. They are money pits. Once the warranty runs out its like playing Russian roulette. The rich folks who can afford a RR get a new car in 5 years anyway. So us normal folks have a chance to get a nice one for cheap. Just pray it isnt a lemon.

Hi Ben, it's ever so interesting, I hear so so many people talking about reliability issues. Yet, I know so many people who own RRs yet none of them have had any issues whatsoever. In fact, they have more problems with Mercs and BMWs. Just shows you, sometimes it is down to luck.

That's the trouble, as soon as the car goes out of production, they no longer make them available to journalists. Which is a pity as for me, these 2 only strengthen the brand overall.
