Your stride will be different on flat terrain, uphill, or downhill. Your uphill stride is likely shorter and downhill is likely a longer stride. Recommendations: 1. Count your pace on flat terrain. Do it three times, and if the count is different each time, average the three counts. Write it down in your pocket note book or on your maps. 2. Count your pace walking up hill 3 times and average it. Write it down. 3. Count your pace walking down hill 3 times and average it. Write it down. If you are going to be traveling terrain that will be a mix of flat terrain, uphill, and downhill, you will want to average the 3 different pace counts to be more accurate overall. If you are mostly traversing flat or near flat terrain, use your flat terrain pace count. Also consider, if your hike or walk will be primarily uphill, you may want to use your uphill average. For a hike mostly downhill, use your downhill average. Extra tips: use different color beads for your top section, or kilometer beads. It helps avoid confusion or a misread at a glance. Also, if you choose to set your beads up with 9 beads in each group, for expanded counting range, you'll definitely be glad you used two separate colors of beads to distinguish between your hundred meter markers and your thousand meter (kilometer) markers.

Question; would this be equally correct measurement in terrain as on flat surface?
@MostHappyintheWild
@MostHappyintheWild 4 жыл бұрын
Rough terrain or steep terrain would obviously impact the pace count but measured over a longer hike it is usually scary accurate

If your destination is more than 4km, break it into shorter distances. The shorter you check point, the accurate your navigation will be. For 1km, you can divide it in two i.e 500m/500m. Once your cover 500m now reset and head for other 500m. Hope you get this. Cheers.

If your walk is more than 5 km’s, you will need to write down on paper that you have traveled 5 km’s. A set of pace beads will measure 5000 meters. So then you start over and measuring another 5 km’s. Record another 5km and repeat.

When was the last time American rangers had to do this ? Every time they fight they have a crushing support no matter the conflict. If only rangers and all those fancy specOps guys trained how to hide from Artillery instead of shooting unarmed people in the face.

Dude what are you trying to say. American rangers using pace counting beads has nothing to do with what they do when attacked by artillery. and them hiding from artillery has nothing to do with shooting unarmed people. All I'm saying is I want whatever you're on. Must be some good stuff if you can come up with a comment like that. Seriously how does one even come up with something so incoherent and out of context?
