This is a great video showing the capability of the patrols vs the raptor. I've got a 2019 raptor in grey and haven't put it through the paces like he has, gives me more confidence than ever though. Great job Luke, love to see more of these videos. Well narrated too, you're a natural.

Hey bud, noticed you got rock sliders on there. Was considering getting some for my Raptor. Do you think if you left the original side steps on it might've prevented the damage? Those steps stick out a fair bit and are pretty tough. Your thoughts?

The stock ones are pretty damned good for stock but you really need proper sliders if you wanna go hard

Try the spring 4x4 only another hour away plus better tracks lots of play pens and sand good look outs o if you chuck the tralier and drift car on could also do the drifts at Stanthorpe make a weekend of it be mint 👌 zarraffas through warwick sure Benny will bring the 33 wagon out not far from home

Raptor looks a capable rig and a good looker for sure, . Shame it’s only available with a little 2.0 eco junk and a sub par towing capacity. (At least that’s how they are in the U.K.)

Yeah man I have a 3.2 manual PX2 Ranger and it’s so much better to drive than the new motor and box. I would trade a bit of towing to have the coil rear end though but I guess that’s why I also have 2 Patrols 😂

Why are people so afraid to lower their tyre pressures when going off road. Everyone looked to still have 35psi+. Running high pressures just destroys the tyres and can break components. First thing to do a Janowen Hills is drop all tyres to 18psi and get ready to go lower.

@@Lukefink Had someone screaming in my ear so must of missed that. There was little to no bagging of the side walls even when the tyres were loaded over sharper rocks. Ranger must be hella light. If that was at 18 I's say you'd be safe to go down to 12psi and then to 8-10psi in the really hairy stuff.

Those chain drive transfer cases are rubbish, they always will be, once its out of warranty put a divorced transfer on it like the old patrols had or even sierras i think had but obviously you dont want a sierra one on 4 sierras worth of car

How to mod a raptor to be less capable offroad. These guys are beginners and thats fine.

@@Lukefink it looks like you lifted and stiffened the front so much there is hardly any droop travel resulting in frequent front wheel lift especially up hills and resulting in traction loss and loss of forward progress. It also seems you guys generally run tyre pressures too high. Next time try 15 to 18psi in that kind of terrain, you will be amazed at the different.

@@rhetth-s8082 we where running 18psi all day. Fronts have been reset by mikes shock shop who specialises in race and offroad shocks. Fronts about 50mm higher than stock nothing overly exciting. I have owned some pretty serious trucks in my time including a tuff truck on 40s with rear steer etc. We are not beginners at all.. being the expert you are why are you expecting an ifs 4x4 to flex in the front. There character is to lift a wheel its not like a solid axle truck

@@Lukefink well, in that video i see the vehicles baulk at numerous rocks and the tyres dont look like they are flexing much. They look like they are having a tougher time on specific obstacles than they should considering the extent to which they are built. If you have 50mm raised heavy duty coils in the front of your Ranger with unmodified swaybars you have significantly reduced flex at the front. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4rIpJd_pL-tabc
