Battlefield 5: FIGHTER ACE vs. ACE air-to-air dogfights | RangerDave

The most intense dogfighting in BFV happens when you run into top-notch pilots by surprise! I still consider myself to be a rather casual pilot but in this video I have a few rounds where I went up against the odds and managed to come out on top.
Load-outs featured:
- BF 109 G-2 with 2x 7.92MM machine guns and 2x 20mm cannons and Auto-Leading Edge specializations (I didn't have the rockets unlocked at the time)

airplane combat is very cinematic and the base mechanics are very good, but they still need refinement ... sometimes the way you could lower your speed you get to that where you are floating ... it's works in a weird way, and when someone decent is at your 6 you are pretty much dead ....

It's interesting - I've been flying constantly since the pre launch and different flying styles have come and gone. Right now it's as you mentioned - braking and floating. Tbh it's rather tedious and boring....just hanging there in the sky with another fighter. Probably the only map where it doesn't happen is Fjell.

Kaoukabi Jaouad I fly quite a bit and for a mouse and keyboard guy, I can hold my own. But the second a decent pilot is on your six, it's game over. The BF109 with rockets is the best plane in the game . Spitfire used to shred... doesn't do as much as it used to. Niccaman is fun to watch just for his giggles 😂. Oh and the best asset is a pair of fighters working together.... that combo makes it impossible to counter.

Same here. I got curious and decided to see what flyings like in V. The good dogfighters are still playing BF3/4 hoping that the air gameplay doesn’t get dumbed down in BF6. It seems Dice has it out for jet pilots. They’re not op, most people aren’t cut out to fly them and lack the work ethic to learn. Least the silver lining will be watching the franchise go up in flames if they try the accessibility route to attract more casuals

Air to Air combat among two evenly matched pilots is actually super fun. You end up with two guys duking it out who look at it like boxers or duelists, even eschewing assistance from an AA gun. This is their fight.

That's called jibing,it's what a horse does when it suddenly stops. As you're being descended upon by the other pilot,you nose up and turn down your throttle so you sort of slide into an almost stop. The other pilot has to avoid hitting you and pulls up a little at a higher speed and passes you, giving you the option to fire on his tail. The fact that you managed to pull that off just as you went over a Clif was nothing short of winning the lottery. Beautifully done

Man I am still kicking myself for not recording my Air to Air kills in BF1942. Was an ACE in that game and occasionally I would come across another really good pilot and the match would be spared our wrath because we were both tied up twisting and turning each other and luring to AA. There were some really challenging fights, especially on Battle of Britain and Coral Sea. Great video, I loved every minute of it. Brought back some good memories, although with much less graphical fidelity.

What platform do you play on? It's good to see I'm not the only competent pilot on this game, I wouldn't mind flying out with you one day, hell, I'd love to face you in a Duel to give myself a challenge for once. Don't sell yourself short, that's some good fucking flying mate. Oh, and you should give a game called War Thunder a try, and try playing the Simulator game mode on it once you get yourself a decent monoplane, it's a blast.

What I will say is that the BF 109 G6 with the right specializations is a bit OP in comparison to the Spitfire, especially when it comes to the turning ability. Even a Spitfire with the advanced turning can’t really keep up. I love being on the German team for the sake of having access to the better planes. Just wish there was more of a balance :/

Joshua Hunt its so funny that you say that because one of the only things the spitfire had over the BF109 historically was turning ability. In most other aspects the 109 could outperform them. I don’t play BF5 I just think that’s an interesting choice from the devs.

More of a balance? The spitfire guns can shred planes in a couple seconds. No plane is more OP in BF5 than the spitfire with it's response time to turns and especially those ridiculous guns. Once they nerfed the hell out of the Junkers bomb capability, the spitfire has worn the OP plane crown in this game and never given it up.

@@booferzz yes. In ww2, the spitfire had the best turning capability, but had issues with stability and severe shaking issues during diving maneuvers. The BF109 had a big advantage when it came to diving and speed during dives as it was very stable in that department.

@@bmvhusky Not so in PS4. I do agree that the Spitfire firepower is unmatched. However, the turning capability when up against a 109 is just not there. Perhaps it depends on what you're playing it on. But I respect your opinion on the matter... always good to have a civilized debate among the pilot community. We can all agree that the max upgraded AA tanks ruin our fun :P

The BF109s do have the specializations to add increased maneuverability from all control surfaces which is pretty much the best tree to use on the G2 and you can choose a full dog-fighter load out on the G6 that adds that as well with the explosive rounds. When you enable those, you can match or even exceed the turn radius of a spitfire with the right technique. The G6 with that load out can get the most OP crown in the skies when piloting well.

I don't see how you shoot them down with so few shots. I have unloaded and hit planes many more times and had them be able to come back and take me out. Plus, it seems you are lucky no one was constantly on the AA. Most maps, but especially Arras it seems they reach the full distance across the map.

for the air game the DICE should increase the cloud effect pilots can use the clouds to hide from both anti-aircraft and low flying planes, moreover you could also fight on a layer of clouds.

Whoever flew that Spitfire on minute 5.25: NEVER go toe to toe with a Messerschmitt BF109. The Canon mounted in the Nose leads to your demise. Stay high, pick your target and make use of the speed and maneuverability, but NEVER go toe to toe with a Messerschmitt BF109. And the most important thing of all: NEVER make yourself a Target. Always attack with the sun on your back and if you are on a higher altitude, dive on him, open fire and then scatter! Never waste ammunition on the material, aim for the pilot.
