Can’t put captaincy of such a prestigious club on a player who is two seconds in the door .. because that would be disrespectful to players who are in the team and served their dues … So if Captain armband leaves with Tav it has to go to Butland , if Butland is away then it’s a debate ..

@@GRN1872Cmon Owen , We both know Butcher was a totally different pedigree than McLean .. At that time we were signing the TOP players from England … Not the lower standards of today . That said , I’m all for the Kenny McLean signing , I just don’t think he holds enough clout as “ butcher “ did to step into an unknown dressing room and take the armband .. A year or two in the making and with some earned silverware , who knows .. he may do !

We need a new broom, a captain who will span the years of Big Phil's contact, ( so not Butland) Mclean ticks all the boxes. You have to pay for that kind if experience. £1.25m and i think he will be ideal.

McLean was Norwich player of the year last season. He's got experience in the EPL Championship and SPL. So far we've let 5/6 experienced players go and brought in about the same number of players in the 19-22 age group. McLean ticks a lot more boxes than most people think. Steve Davis was controlling games at 36. An experience midfielder would be a good acquisition.

I'd be happy if we had an interim captain for a couple of months, that knows he isn't the pick regardless of results, then decide once we see how things are panning out. There don't appear to be any outstanding candidates aside from Butland and I'm not keen on that idea.

We have a lost a lot of experience in the middle of the park . Ryan Jack would have made a wonderful captain at Rangers but his injury woes just mounted over the last 3 seasons and had to be released. Lundtsram looked solid till it started to matter and was worrying more about his next contract than concentrating on the job at hand so was released . It does leave a hole. Is McLean the answer ? Scottish. Rangers fan. Captained Norwich was an ever present and was their POTY. Only his HG status stands out for me . I don't think we should be spending big on Kenny McLean or offering big wages . Would he be an improvement on Lunny I really don't think so . Graham Dorrans was a huge Rangers fan but turned out to be way past his best by time he got here on the other hand Scott Arfield still had a lot to offer . Steven Davis was still bossing games at 35 but Kenny McLean was never in his class.

Kenny definitely won’t be captain but it’s a good buy in my opinion, he’s experienced and will do well for rangers, and yes rangers fans he is not a goal scorer. He’s never claimed to be that but yet see people complaining about his lack of goals in his career. He will get the ball down the pitch and get a good pass in plenty. He’s good that way. And people need to stop sticking up for tav the fraud. Clearly those fans have a losing mentality too if they are sitting praising tav. Yes tav has good stats here.. but did he earn them himself? No. The whole of rangers won those penalties but yet the board and coaching staff would let tav take a penalty when we have strikers with a lack of confidence who should of been the one to take them to get their confidence back. Tav is a fraud fact.
