Years ago on an Instructor's course, I was told, " You can waffle on all you like, but a clear demonstration is the best way of teaching" and I believe this excellent video reinforces that advice. 👍

Thx for your quick return, Skipper! This is the kind of time and labor saving knowledge so important in long-range treks and being stranded. Situations can obtain in truly remote wilderness where you need to shelter in place indefinitely. The tools you carry are everything to isolated or lost folks. Weapons & ammo, metal canteen, canteen cup, survival knife, incomparable Viking hatchet, folding bow saw, stove and fuel, Bush Knife, sharpening tools, ferrocerium sparker, are all very packable together, and invaluable multipliers. Add 2 or 3 feet of baling wire, paracord, a little bottle of peroxide for disinfectant, a camo kit with mirror, compass, foil, some paper towel and wipes, etc. Too soon you may be subsisting on spruce bark, rose hips, squirrel, and evergreen needle tea.

Something to watch out for in Arizona when digging with a stick or anything else near a black ant nest is the capability of these ants to inflict a very painful bite. Furthermore, if they decide that their nest is being disturbed, a swarm of them may climb on you and sting you in unison as if they were soldier ants from Africa. I am speaking from experience. These ants look a lot like the fairly innocuous black ants found in the Midwest. Mexico has some vicious white ants that are legendary, and fire ants anywhere can also be mean. Better to learn this stuff a priori than by painful or fatal experience.

Andy, with respect from Australia 🇦🇺! We, my son and I have watched you for the last three years. I have never had a response or a thumbs up from you brother. Maybe we are not worthy of your response but we are worthy of listening and learning from you mate. It's ok buddy. My grandad was the company Sargent major of 1rar infantry who went to Vietnam twice. My grandad taught me the best technique ever, the poncho raft. Now I don't care about getting wet and can get to places that most will not tread. It is with greatest respect that I show my 9 year old your channel and we take it into the bush/scrub/forest. With greatest respect ranger Andrew give my boy a thumbs up please sir!.

Thank you, Major, for another superior video. Skills and information that is useful in almost every place on earth. In the Philippines, we have bamboo that is abundant in many areas. I'm surprised at the number of people that spent so much time making sure that their knife is razor sharp yet the ignore their hatchet and axe. Many are in awe of how well their hatchet and axe works after I show them how to sharpen it. Abe Lincoln once said “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” . Thank you for sharing sir and more importantly, Thank you for your service.

G'day Major.! Without a doubt another great class reminding us of the basics & perseverence for survival. All presentation are what we learned in our Outback Survival Training. With the Saw Horse/Anvil, we make it without sawing it off the main tree trunk so others that may come after us can use it or get intrigue by it.! Then again it does make a great seat or swedish stove etc. We use all your vid for class revision & some skills as part of our class training. Cheers Digger & thank you for your service. Greetings from Australia.
