Regarding clues like: He's taken!, Very often clues with this structure (exclamation point at the end, not in quotes) should be interpreted as talking about the answer rather than the more typical replacement. In this case you would not replace 'married man' in a sentence with 'He's taken!' or vice versa, but rather you would say 'He's taken!' about a married man.
