Yashpal tells us a story of a married man, living away from his family for work, who leches after a widowed neighbour and when caught by her mother-in-law in a compromised position, has an affair with the mother-in-law in exchange for her silence. The story covers multiple aspects of how a middle-class society functions: Jealousy over better paying tenants, wanting to know salacious details about their neighbours and many such facets have been subtly addressed. It is a social commentary on the hypocrisy that exists between keeping one's chin high in the society, and succumbing to societal pressures of 'Appearing' well adjusted, while one is morally bankrupt on the inside.
Social appearance supersedes ones own will for contentment.

Iss baar aap ki videos me nayi cheez notice ki maine bahut achchi thi. Kahaani m aape bahut achche se padi ek dialogue ko oosi tarah deliver kiya jaise asli kirdaar ne kaha ho. उत्तम पठन शैली के लिए धन्यवाद! यहां हिन्दी कहानी सुनने वालों से अंग्रेजी में टिपपणी का तात्पर्य समझ में नहीं आया। क्या हम इतने विचारशून्य/ सुविधाभोगी हो चुके हैं कि दासता भूलना नहीं चाह ते!! अत्यंत दुःख की बात है। पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री स्व अटल बिहारी बाजपेई जी ने अपनी कविता में इसी को ध्यान में रखकर कुछ पंक्तियां इस प्रकार लिखी थी.... " बनने चली विश्व भाषा जो अपने घर में दासी। अपने घर में दासी, लख कर दुनियां हांसी कह कैदी कविराय, विश्व की चिंता छोड़ो पहले अपने घर में अंग्रेजी के गढ़ को तोड़ो".

@@RaniKetki theek na lagne ka to sawal hi paida nahi hota. Yashpal ji aur aapka combination ka to koi jawab hi nahi. Waise maine abhi tak suni nahi hai....sun lunga to kal kya karunga. Kam se kam kal ke liye kuch to hai ye ummeed hi kafi hai.
