Addition on your tips for communication in bronze: USE A FREKKIN MIC IN THE FIRST PLACE! xD Or at least BE in the voice chat to listen for callouts! SO FEW in bronze uses mic... They only talk after teamfights and matches flaming and pointing fingers at each other.. Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20 in sub-plat....

Really shows how important communication and focus fire is, no comms would probably play out a bit differently. ML7 is such a chad he can mess up a bunch (due to the keybind switch) but still carry a game by being a leader and through mastery of core mechanics. His teammates did great, big kudos to them. I'm impressed with how well they responded to ML's calls, even while under pressure. Good vibes in this vid, one of the most positive OW streamers around.

I have almost equal amount of playing time in each role, with support having slightly the most, and it’s definitely the most difficult for me as well. It’s my lowest rank out of the three and I only play it more because queue times are shorter. They really need to add more supports to the game soon. I hope after rammatra that the next 3 will all be support or something. Doesn’t make sense that DPS has a million, while support only has 8, and tanks are going to have 11 when there’s only one per team now

I was playing some comp support last night, down in bronze and working on climbing. And the “stay calm with the callouts” thing was really important. Keeping morale high is so key in low rank games. Greet your team excitedly and happily and don’t throw blame except to claim it as your own. I did a lot of “let’s slow down, wait for five” calls. Or “hey we got time, lets slow down.” Because when you feel that last sixty seconds on the clock, people freak out. But that’s a ton of time. You can coordinate a lot in that time. I made a few mistakes, like missing a key sleep dart or getting stuck on a wall in front of a dva bomb (it was almost 3 am, i was tired and it showed). But I just laughed em off like “Oops, my bad! Wont do that again!” It worked very well. Having an igl who understands ult timings and how to stay chill is so important, and I loved seeing how mL7 handled his team in this video. There’s some great lessons there. I’m gonna keep trying to use em in my own games.

a lot of bronze/ silver/ gold are amazing like them, they just need to be more confident and have more trust in their teammates. I'm a gold support and sometime i play with my diamond/master friends and they don't feel like they have less support, actually they don't see the difrence between me and a diamond/master support. when i play with them i'm feeling less stressfull and i know nobody will be mad at me or insulting me (I'm verry stressful when someone yell in they mic)

This was great fun, mL! If SVB ever ran something like this again, do you think you'd be interested in maybe doing silvers, golds, plats etc.? It has a similar vibe to the 'unranked to GM' series' you've done where there's lots of general OW2 insight coupled with specific little nuggets unique to the teammates/ranks you're playing with. Plus, this lets you be more proactive with teaching and shotcalling (I don't remember you overly using comms in unranked to GM, which I understand is because a lot of lower ranks don't like that, but it was nice to see everyone get a little more comfortable as the game went on in this case) and just generally being kind but informative - it feels very much like the kind of content you've been fostering over the past few years.

silver next and then onto gold and plat and beyond, gamer :D that's huge! I've experienced the same kind of thing - once I started asking myself as a support player what my dps and tank need and what I can give them, based on the kit of the hero I'm playing, I started getting so much better and having more fun, too. your supports may not notice what you're trying to do right now, but good supports (in the rank you play right now and in the ranks you will play in) will notice and appreciate you for it. looking forward to playing with you in plat!

@sethescope

this is huge! I can only imagine how difficult it is for DPS players, I've mostly played Mercy the entire time I've played overwatch so I've always had a self healing passive lol so I just have to not take damage for a little bit and then I start to get hp back. but y'all just have to like.... press W and trust that you'll only fall over once you've won the fight lol (I say this because sometimes as Mercy I will damage boost and let someone die in front of my eyes because confirming the kill is more important than them staying alive because I will usually have res anyway and if the kill is THAT important, the fight is going to be over after it so there's no harm in letting you respawn normally because you'll be back in time)

there's so much to learn here! I'm saving this to my playlist of educational videos because there's so much I want to absorb. first, the positioning. given he does not have a teammate with healing capacity, he positions safely even when he's doing damage. he's always near a wall or pillar. he relies on the passive to heal him, for the most part, and saves his abilities for the team. he ISN'T playing dps Baptiste. he's still playing support. he's not trying to solo carry the team, which is just beyond awesome to see. he's supporting his team and giving them resources and helping them, not trying to wipe out the enemy team while his teammates die on cooldown. God! this is such a treat. you don't have to label a video educational in order to give people something they can learn from. OKAY BUT THE COMMUNICATION!!!! simple, calm, actionable instructions!! "help our Hanzo" is nothing. in lower ranks, that's not specific. that doesn't mean anything. but "walk to our Hanzo" is GOOD. because anyone can do that. they can look around, see where Hanzo is, and press W towards their Hanzo and then do other things too. that kind of call does not expect or require advanced knowledge of the game. ml7 is MODIFYING his comms so they are helpful for his team. he isn't expecting his teammates to understand top 500 comms. he has taken the initiative and changed his language so he can help his team succeed. this is BEYOND important. communication is important in vc, but if you are choosing to do callouts, you need to make sure that what you're saying is helpful to your team and lets them know what you need. ml7 has done exactly that, AND he has done it without being condescending or treating his teammates as children. honestly, this is just fucking insane. I respect ml7 so much.

I mean, his gamesense, mechanical skill are of course a major part of it. But just looking at this from an objective standpoint: Having someone who coordinates the entire team makes it so much better. Communication is really key.

ML7 will alway be and has been my favorite Overwatch streamer for the longest time. He's calm/methodical/reasonable person which makes him so much for fun too watch than the overly hype and exaggerated streamers in my opinion. Much love to ML7!

Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20 in sub-plat....

soo even if i knew this, i learned "help your team mates" Turn arround and support then for a few second to secure their life and may kill one. This works in every rank and i think gives u a huuuuge advantage no matter how technical skilled the enemy team is

I absolutely adore this video, and I’m not even done watching it yet. I could see all of his reasoning for choosing the heroes that he chose Reinhart because it’s the easiest thing to play if you’re not sure what you’re supposed to be doing in the highest shield Fashion in Taub, because of the high damage I put in the fact that nobody in low ranks kills turrets so it’s basically just an extra player And Baptiste, because he has immortality, and at that level people are hitting their shots enough to even need two healers Compile that with his excellent strategies and shot calling and overall positivity and being encouraging his teammates, I haven’t watch the end yet, but I bet you they win ❤

As a Zarya main the difference between random supports vs a good like Ana or Kiriko is insane! I can play sooooo much more aggressively, it's truly mind boggling. Times I think I'm dead I look and I still have like half health. Enabled pre patch Zarya was an immovable object. Team thanked me but I always type in chat "Ana ily". Also had a Mercy who, after some time, decided to pocket me on Soldier the rest of the game and we popped off! Good supports are amazing.
