My grandfather got me Fire Shark. He didn't understand my interest in gaming, and only tried playing one with me once. That was one of my favorite Genesis games for this reason alone.

Your Goldie Locks analogy is spot on with Fire Shark. I managed to get to Stage 5 then could not get further. Still far enough though. I wanted to like Target Earth but it’s not the kinda run and gun sorta game I would want when compared to Gunstar Heroes or Contra Hard Corps.

I think I can get to the third of fourth level or merc but for 1942, I can't get pass the first battle ship because it's so hard to destroy them 100 percent or you don't get to pass the level.

Great video! I would like to see you rank games based solely on cover/cabinet art. You could do this by comparing game art on shelves at the same time, like Nintendo vs Sega for similar games or maybe even the same game. Or maybe every cover art done by the same artist. Which games did you buy solely based on cover art? Did you ever put quarters into a machine based solely on the cabinet art? I did - Sinstar. You could do a similar series on game commercials.

Hi John , excellent video as usual. Interesting games, I must accept with lot of shame that I overlooked some of those games. My little brother and I start a business dedicated to change games in a tianguis (Mexican word for a itinerarnt market ) and lots games passed through our hands and there was no time to play them all , so , as teenagers we only played thouse with the most appealing graphics... BIG MISTAKE. Love your channel is great to know more about thouse games we despised back then.

Fireshark: Is one of the few genesis games that is almost arcade perfect, what make it almost is that the arcade version is actually two players. Trampoline Terror: I enjoy it very much and is a very arcadish game. I love the sountrack, Had a great time figuring out the puzzles when I was a kid. Target Earth: Got it pretty late in my collection and I found it pretty hard, even the remastered version on PS4 was unforgiving. Wings of Wor: Also got it pretty late in my collection and is one of those genesis game that makes you question if you're playing a SNES, neat rotation FX and graphics. Shove it and The Kabuki: I never played them, I'll put them in my "To Do" list.

The difficulty on Target Earth was definitely a drawback; I couldn't get past level 3. The invincibility code allowed to me appreciate the scope and level progression of the game; very good effort but the difficulty should have been toned down some. Fire Shark was always an easy pick up and play title; like all of the Toaplan releases for the system not amongst the very best Genesis shooters but upper-tier for sure. I remember Wings of Wor not looking too exciting in magazine previews before it was released but when I played it my impressions were changed for the better; nice backgrounds and soundtrack on that one with a cool weapon system.
