Thanks. 2:11 so is the ranks above the real name then the smaller ones below are what people referred to them as?

Yep! They would be referred to as the smaller text. The rank name was for the broad range of individuals that were at that category, let’s say Petty Officer Third Class, so E-4. For another example - a Boatswain’s Mate would be a BM3 or Boatswain’s Mate Third Class for that rank.
