I am grieving with the rest of this Country over the death of Raylene. The magic this band produced with their music touches the hearts of all Canadians. "North Country" is a personal favorite of mine. RIP Raylene - we love you.

What an absolute magical time for me. My wife of 18 years had left divorcing me, lost my business and 2 million dollars at age 42. Dead broke, put my beloved dog Chester to sleep, sold my house and moved from Alpharetta GA to Richmond VA all in one year. It was a change of life that propelled me to a new and wonderful life. Watching the Rankin family listening to their music was pure magic. I reconnected with my roots and it's something I'll never forget. It inspired me to push on, something I'll treasure forever. Keep your dreams alive and don't let small minded vapid people steal your soul. Always keep the music in your heart. Never settle for less no matter what. I'm 67 years young now and their music still inspires me. The best is yet to come! Btw, still have a huge crush on Heather 😊

North Country is a song I never got tired of listening to. In my view it is one of the top, very top, vocal pieces from a Canadian band. Raylene will be remembered for this and other music from the Rankin family. Sad to see you go.

I raised all my three daughters listening to your music. They are in their 20’s now, all adopted from China, but they embrace this culture, my culture, more than than their birth culture. While I dragged them to Mandarin school when they were small, my guess is they would have all preferred to learn Gallic

Oh right: a woman = her appearance and a woman who is performing, lead singer even = double the scrutiny Thank goodness I never ended up trying to make a living in Canada in the performing arts. I saw what it did to my grandparents, dad and uncle. The men aren’t commodified the way women are. They’re expected to please simply as MUSICIANS (but all too often no matter where they go).
