Hello! I have PL on a very long playlist so I listen to them every day. I saw them live in 1993 (with Sepultura) in Oslo. Fan ever since that concert! Very hard to rank the albums but Draconian Times is number 1 also for me.

My favourite album is Obsidian. It´s easily in my Top 10 best albums of all time. I love Darker Thoughts, Ghosts, Serenity, and all the rest of this album. Paradise Lost, what a great band.

The cool thing about Obsidian is it basically says "here's every style we've ever played, as well as we've ever played it, on one album." Pretty impressive that far into their career. Draconian Times will always be my #1. It's in my top 5 of all time.

Awesome List! and song picks. Draconian Times and The Plague Within are two of the best records in Metal imo. The recent album by the new Host project is very catchy, rotating back and forth between it and the new Katatonia record lately. I'm curious on your thoughts on Nicks work in the band Bloodbath. Another amazing project with a wealth of talent.

Paradise Lost are my favourite band of all time. When choosing my top 3 albums number 1 is easy but 2 & 3 is difficult because they have so many stellar records. My number 3 is 'Paradise Lost' self titled because its a phenomenal mix of grit, heaviness, beautiful melody and great production, my number 2 is 'Symbol Of Life' because its got a similar vibe to the self titled album but imo the song writing is a bit better, the songs 'Isolate' & 'Erased' are absolute bangers to open an album, then you have 'Pray Nightfall' which gives me goosebumps its so beautiful, then at the end of the album 'Xavier' is just epic. My number 1 PL album like you is Draconian Times - Everything from the artwork to the songs...an absolute masterpiece

Eight months late to the party, but here's my ranking. Since you asked for it. Long time listener, since the Lost Paradise/Gothic days. They blew my mind from day 1, when I heard Gothic on the local radio (I live up in northern Sweden). Went the next day and bought Lost Paradise from a local record store (since Gothic was sold out), got home and was yet again blown away. Loved everything they've released ever since. But if a ranking needs to be done, this is how my votes fall. And yes, "Mouth" is just so good, I agree, but it's the weakest over all album (even after the remix) so... can't put that album higher sadly. 1. FAITH DIVIDES US DEATH UNITES US (2009) 2. PL is without a shadow of a doubt my all time favourite band. Read about them in 1990 and heard them the first time in 1991 and it was love at first listen. Each album felt just right at the time is was realeased and same as you, there isn't one album that I simply don't love. Only remember in 99 when I saw the music video for "so much is lost" I was kinda thinking "oh, so they are definitelly leaving metal, like this feels cool, but is a shame" and was a little skeptic before listening the whole "host", but as the second track played I was totally into it. Liked your ranking, doesn't match mine all the way, actually I tend to switch preferences - at the moment "In Requiem" tends to be the one I like the most, the only constant is my least favourite that is "Symbol of life". But same as you "Blood and Chaos" is my all time fav song, have it even as a ringtone and alarm tune - just pumps me with the energy I need for the day. A band I would like to see ranked by you - need to check other vids first to be sure you haven't done yet - but let's go with classics: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Cheers

A particularly difficult set to rank, because they are so varied. I find my favourites depend on what i'm in the mood for: there are days when it has to be Shades of God or Icon (occasionally Gothic), days when Draconian Times is the only viable option. On days when i can't decide, the mixture in The Anatomy of Melancholy live album is a good compromise. My favourite songs to play (badly) on guitar are probably "I See Your Face" and "Shadowkings" from DT, which probably counts as a vote for that album; "As I Die" is also fun. Of the more recent albums, Tragic Idol and Obsidian both did it for me, The Plague Within worked in parts (I *love* "No Hope in Sight") but Medusa was very disappointing.

First time I saw them live was supporting Sepultura at the Barrowlands in (I think) 1993. Frankly, they blew Sepultura off the stage. Saw them again supporting Opeth in '06, in Machester, and they were very good, but Opeth were truly incredible that night (the night after they filmed the Roundhouse Tapes).

i love paradise lost. first got into them when they put out icon, which was fantastic. i also love depeche mode so when they went into alternative synth pop stuff i didnt mind the direction shift at all. however i think the problem with host is its just not very good, i dont think it has a single really good track on it that could stand beside anything in the top 40 depeche mode tracks, nothing even remotely as good as a track like one second or lydia.
