Fantastic video Joey. Genuinely one of the best youve ever done. So enjoyable and made me want to do the same with my 31 decks. And Baba is also currently the deck I play EVERY gamenight without fail. So much fun. Edit: Ive now ordered my decks in playing time from the last 3 months... ...and its shocking how many of my "favourite" decks im not playing with. Need to review and work out why. However, it has made me start taking apart two decks as ive now realised that i just dont play them anymore. Thanks Joey!

I've said as much on other EDHREC videos, but I was way wrong about Baba Lysaga and, since having jammed a generic list on MTGO several dozen times now, I can safely say that I will build her in paper. Unlike Joey, I don't like Golgari as a rule (my only Golgari deck is Skullbriar, and that's not, in my opinion, a typical Golgari commander), so that I'm this excited about sacrificing stuff speaks to how interesting Baba is to me. I love commanders that make underplayed cards playable and playable cards even more playable; Baba does this in spades. I've played many an enchantress deck, so stuff like Rancor and Sanctum Weaver are old pals of mine and, since I'm a MtG boomer, I've played plenty of MIshra's Factories, but I love how these old standards gain new utility in BL. Also, to Joey's point about Feather: I get that, too. I had a Light-Paws deck that was sooooo same-y each game. My solution with her was to build her on a $50 budget. This way, while the deck is still linear and same-y, you get to run a lot of cards people tend not to have seen. The result is a good "end of the night" deck that can still KO someone on turn four but that has a lot of "Wait; what does that do?" cards as well. Anyway, I was wrong about you Baby Zagnut, Joey. Happy to admit I was wrong and happy to be on Team Lasagna.

It's very interesting to see how Joey's decks evolved over the process of the content, I remember in the past him talking about how much he actually enjoyed playing Feather in older podcasts and such, and a handful of decks that have disappeared that were mentioned (Shorikai stands out because I had the same deck and also deconstructed it). Agrus Kos (the new one, Eternal Soldier) has a chance at scratching a similar itch to Feather which is very nice.

I only have a couple commander decks because I got into magic about 3 years ago, but my favorite and best are definitely niv-mizzet and Edgar Markov. I play niv-mizzet with a bunch of low cost cantrippy spells which makes it a lot more consistent. It is harder to counter the strat when I play low-cost combo pieces and draw spam to get to 1 of my 3 infinite combo enchants with niv. The edgar deck is just super fast and reliable. A lot of low cost anthems with versatile removal.

This video is why commander is fun. I wouldn’t want to build basically any of these decks except maybe 1 or 2. But there’s always other players that want to brew different decks and get excited about interactions I personally don’t like. The variance is what makes the game so fun.

I know it a HUGE shift but ishai pairs SO well with jeska, allowing your two commanders to be the finishers means a hand with only ramp is a viable keep. I know swapping out two entire colors to replace with a third completely overhauls the deck but I truly find that deck to be so fun to pilot, albeit it becomes really repetitive and opponents just start to keep focus on ishai more and more, killing it frequently and not allowing it to swing. It requires a more political approach, making deals with players to kill it AFTER you take another opponent out, which ends up leaving you behind in resources and them with one less player to worry about. But still fun, for those that like ishai and dont want a four color option.
@mn63342 жыл бұрын
This is only tangentially related but I put a Virtus into my Kamiz deck. Giving them Double Strike is pretty fun. Had a game once where I couldn't decide if I should cast Virtus or another 3 drop on turn three so I chose randomly and got Virtus. Ended up kind of dominating that game because I even had recursion to follow up the inevitable board wipe.

Your Konrad deck works very similar to my Search for Blex dredge deck, but unlike you, G allows me many options for non-creature recursion. How do you deal with having a noncreature card you that you want in hand getting milled in monoblack? Some cards to consider: Yawgmoth's Will, Increasing Ambition, Stinkweed Imp/Golgari Thug (Dredgers work great with Tortured Existance), Ill-Gotten Gains, Skirge Familiar, Tormod the Desecrator. Also, in your Titania (I also use this exact strategy in my Kynaios and Tiro "Egglands" deck), I didn't see Gerrard's Hourglass Pendant, Amulet of Vigor or Urza's Saga (that can fetch either of them or Zuran Orb). You need to add these ones as well. I would probably advise removing Scapeshift to not having a 1-card "I win" button that can make games unfun.

My thrasios and Tivet deck is a painters servant + deck. I run lifeforce, deathgrip, and douse. It’s primarily a control deck that’s just gonna grind everyone out. Winter and static orb go right in even tho I lose a lot of ways to tap them in these colors. The whole idea of the deck is to get painters servant and any of the 3 counterspell enchantments into play. Proceed to politic the whole game. Feather is also one of my favorite decks and least played decks. I love commanders that take "trash" cards and makes them amazing but it is overly dependent on the commander. I have an Orvar deck that's basically the same thing. Then combining both of those decks together and add a little spice and I get my Hinata deck with both Orvar and Feather in the 99. All of these rely on the commander too much. When they go off, they go off hard. When they get shut down, you don't even get to play the game.

Please I know you love edh, you should def try rograhk and thrasios. I feel like the power of my deck actually scales with the pod as long as nobody is playing like a really bad deck. The fact it scales with the pod means it performs better in competitive pods and performs slightly worse in less competitive based pods. I play 39 creatures 11 instants and sorcs combined. The rest of the deck is enchantments and mana rocks. I thjnk I’m at 31 or 32 lands. It’s been very difficult refining the deck because I know I can’t go lower than 31 lands no matter what. Statistically it would become way less efficient than it is. No matter what card I add. Even if the card is something like lotus petal :( jeweled lotus is also kinda trash in rograhk and thrasios :(. However the deck is truly insane. It is a winter orb and static orb deck, with no way to tutor either to my hand or field. I do run goblin engineer to put them in the yard tho. The fact I don’t always tutor for dockside off goblin matron is proof of the true power of goblin engineer and goblin welder. Those are my only 3 goblins. Goblin matron is still super effective. I built around turning creatures and artifacts into mana dorks. And just really high value that compliments a small control package. I play enchantments like douse and lifeforce.

It also doesn't help when I haven't been paying close enough attention since about March of 2020.
