Such a fun video and helpful as I pick out my favorite live action Ariel dolls. I also had the same somewhat disappointment with the mattel collector addition, and also thank you for letting me know I can turn off the music for the disney store one. I’m also afraid to touch it often. Just got the sister pack today!

I love doll clothes, so Celebration Ariel wins for the beautiful dress. Ariel and her sisters is 2nd place, she is a superior mermaid. I agree, all mermaid dolls should have the articulated tail. But what I really want is a MTM body Ariel with all her clothes (with decent details) and her tail

The movie cost over $200 million to make, and they could only do three outfits. I'll buy one if they do a Made to Move one. I just bought The Looks doll that matches her skintone but I have no plans to swap her body.

We get very little over here in New Zealand but I did get my kids the tiny little plastic set of the 7 sisters and they love them. I wish I had them myself!

I personally love the small Jakks Pacific Ariel from the sister pack with the plastic fins. The sister sets are always my favorite, but this one stands out to me because the size is manageable and easy to store. The dolls can also stand on their own, their faces are cute, and the best part is that-even though they’re all mermaids-they still came with fabric fashions. The fashions have individual cuts, prints, and side fins. Also,-I just found this out!-each sister’s bottom plastic fin comes from a unique mold! I have a newfound appreciation for Jakks because they always kill it with the quality and affordability. I can’t wait to get the vanity set from Costco. The accessories are so cute, and those sisters have waist articulation!

I have a soft spot for the larger dolls. I'm such a sucker, and if I could afford her when she came out, I probably would have bought the 17 inch doll, despite her flaws. Ariel's my favorite princess, and honestly, she could hang out with my 17 inch Overblot Azul (I'll eventually work on making a proper Ursula, but I don't have a good model for her face sculpt).

really wish mattel released the articulated tail ariel individually somewhere 😭 i love mermaids with articulated tails or like the rubbery ones like the fairytopia magical mermaids and i don't think any version of ariel has gotten that treatment. the tail articulation should be the standard for mermaid dolls or the rubber scales should be more common because only two mermaid lines from mattel have them 😪

My favorite is the playline mermaid Ariel #5 in your ranking. I agree, there is something so beautiful and unique about her tail. Her face is gorgeous and she is not only affordable but an all over winner in my opinion. Great video as always.

I can’t disagree with your number one pick. I just got the seven sisters pack during the Amazon Black Friday sales. I don’t even want to rebody Ariel, she is indeed perfect. But I am going to look up a tutorial on changing her arms because that would take her over the top. I am surprised that I only want to rebody two of the sisters because that fin articulation is everything. So much potential for photographing and posing.

Kinda off Topic but the original Little Mermaid was never set in Denmark. The place it describes in the original book is more reminiscent of Italy than Denmark. Which is ironic because for the Live-Action film they filmed in Italy so lol. People just assumed that sense the original Author was from Denmark that it meant the story was too but that’s not the case. Same thing is happening with Snow White, I don’t know much about Snow White but I’m 99% sure the original German tale wasn’t set in Germany… it was set in “a far away land”. These are stories made to be set in a far off made up place. If an American writes a fairytale does that make the fairytale set in America? 9/10 no.

I only have number 5 (reordered her!) because I thought they were all over priced and I've been waiting for them to start going on sale. I nearly got number 1 but adding articulated arms to my playline doll was hassle enough. The Mattel sculpt and hair really made these dolls imo, feel like almost everything else about them sucked. Like you said there is something missing from almost every doll, articulation, quality materials, etc etc. And I'm still sad I didn't really enjoy the film. Disney you have done us a disservice.

I didn’t get the Disney store one until like a week ago (because I was so caught up on the sisters set one) but I was surprised at how much I liked her. Probably top 2. She doesn’t top the sisters one, I got both the 3 pack and 7 pack, so obviously she’s number 1 for me too 😂
