In this Ranking series video, we countdown our choices for the 10 best city skylines in the United States. We also include a couple of Honorable Mentions, because there are too many good cities to choose from! Let us know if you agree or disagree in the comments.

I know this list is subjective, but no, just no. No Philly? No Atlanta? Tacky Vegas near the top? No. Chicago #4? No. Bright, colored lights are not enough to make a skyline beautiful.

How Philadelphia did not make this list is beyond me? The mix of old and new architecture is unmatched. The 2nd skyline forming along the Schuylkill River maybe the 2nd best river skyline in the US after Chicago. I often think it's a city that doesn't get photographed from many angles so it's depth and size isn't truly reflected.

@@C.O._Jones yes some parts, I guess living here you just know how to move, Chicagoians have a certain demeanor and attitude, they can tell if your not from around here. Since the whole rap scene exploded it has been sensationalized a bit. All in all, it's a great city, alot to be proud of.

Really think Philly needed to be on the list over Cleveland and Las Vegas... LA skyline is nice and realistically cannot compete with NYC or Chicago because it's Earthquake territory with special building codes... Pittsburgh skyline is always in the top 5 or 6 as it should be it's naturally gorgeous....

Philly being only being and honor mention and Miami not even being an honorable mention while vastly inferior DC and Baltimore are honorable mentions with Charlotte, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Las Vegas being top 10 is crazy.

Hi - great question! Mostly because of the AT&T building and how much it defines the Nashville skyline and makes it recognizable. A building with such a recognizable look was something we looked for when paring down our list - like how the Space Needle makes Seattle's skyline so obvious. The river makes Nashville's skyline pretty, too, but a low height and lack of other interesting buildings made it miss our actual Top 10.

I like your list. Have similar tastes to you. The 80's and 90's were the era of the spire, the creation of interesting building tops, harking back to Art Deco times. Those years produced some nice work, such as Charlotte. We seem to have gone back to the modernist square top now, much less interesting. Some minor disagreements ---- I can't see L.A. making this list. Not very interesting buildings, either individually or in aggregate. Dallas has a few cool buildings, such as Fountain Place, but is imbalanced with the building on the west end so much taller than the others. You give New York and Chicago their due. For me, driving up the Franklin Roosevelt highway on the east shore of Manhattan at night with the top of the convertible down is a peak experience.

Poor list. Never would I put an artificial city like Las Vegas in my top 15. And Chicago would be in the 1 or 2. Philadelphia would be up there too and Dallas,Los Angeles, Cleveland and Charlotte out 16:26

pretty weird list, but relatively good explanations for each, I would say. Chicago is too low, obviously, but taking out Las Vegas, I would say you've got the top three right, just not in the right order.

Detroit has a FAR better skyline than Cleveland. Gimme a break! There's a bunch of new high rise buildings going up in the downtown district and a second suspension bridge going up as well. By 2026, Detroit's skyline will look much different and better. A n equal mix of old and new buildings clumped together on a water front with bridges is a real downtown.
