alright so i agree in the anime tanaka was a very sweet old man who appeared loyal to our ciel at all times and even replaced sebastian as the butler for a bit when everyone redeemed sebastian as dead [SPOILERS] in the manga, once ciel's twin was revealed and ciel's brother was trying to arrest him and destroy his entire reputation, tanaka sided with his twin just because he was originally meant to be earl, and didnt even think twice about it. he let everyone happened to our ciel completely happen. and yes, he did had a choice, finny, mey rin and bard all sided with our ciel while he forgot our ciel like it never happened and started serving real ciel casually like he didnt just frame his own brother for the murders he committed

Cuz like sure, real Ciel was meant to be earl but our Ciel was the one Tanaka has been serving for years- and then suddenly real Ciel shows up after casually trying to frame his brother for murder, and Tanaka is like “ah yes. I shall serve this one,” ?? Like the fuck??
