Korea does have great camera work but it depends on the show and the song/group. Like for La Vie En Rose the Japanese camera work was better than the Korean version. Red Velvet camera work can be pretty sketchy sometimes ahaha

Forever Young (VERY repetitive but some of the moves are pretty interesting) 8. Okay, so i’ve been a dancer for over 12 years and i’ve learned all of blackpink’s choreography. I 100% agree with your picks. I love Boombayah because of its high energy from start to end. I love Whistle and Playing With Fire because they’re more subtle and sofisticated. And Ddu Du Ddu Du and Kill This Love are more powerful and iconic, clearly meant to be replicated. Don’t Know What To Do is honestly just a dancer’s dream. The floor work, the intricate arms, the transitions: it’s addicting. I find myself doing it in between dance classes to clear my mind. Furthermore, to address some arguments made against their dancing: I do not find the dances to all be the same either. They’re all very different not only move-wise but stylistically. I’ve seen people make the argument that their positions are the same. I do not agree whatsoever. Face the facts: with four people there’s only so many positions possible and of course they’d repeat what looks good on stage. I’ve seen the exact same thing happen in competitive dance. We have certain positions that we always use because it’s appealing to the eye and works well with choreography. And trust me when I say it works: my team have two consecutive state titles under our belt. Anyways, I just wanted to clear up any misconceptions about the Blackpink dances because I always see this point come up in anti videos or “why i’m unstanning videos” and I’ve never agreed.

As a dancer for literally 10 years, i kinda think that they're choreographies are really weak and repetitive. Like the ddu-ddu-ddu-du moves is kinda similar to the KTL like is a gun, the kind of touching the butts move is literally in every choreographies. Honestly my ranking would be the next one: 8. Kill This LOVE. This song and the choreo don't do it for me, I believe it's kinda like a copy paste of ddu-ddu-du and it saddens me but I gotta admit the end of the choreo is pretty cool. 7. Ddu-ddu-du. The song is catchy but the choreo even tho I enjoy it, it doesn't really make justice to its beat until the very end, I legit find myself bored until the end of the choreo. 6. Forever Young. It's a pretty and feminine choreo as you said and what makes it for me it's the beggining and the end that are super cool! But whatever it's in the middle isn't really that tasty. 5. Boombayah. Let me tell you I love this choreo due to how well it fits the song and how energetic it is. It's one of their boldest choreos and one of the most demanding in my opinion. 4. As if it's your last. It's one of my favorite songs and choreos of BP! I find the moves fit the beat perfectly and they switch a lot between different moods throughout the song which is so refreshing to see for me. But it's still a kinda weak choreo, still it's so attracting to see. 3. I don't know what to do. I find it very beautiful and sweet and kinda has some experimental moves, unfortunately I've seen choreos similar to this one before so to call it 100% original for me personally it's a little bit much. 2. Playing with fire. My favorite song of blackpink and the one that made me a blink in the first place :D I live for the choreography and it's actually the very first one I learned from them, and four years later I'm still hooked to it! 1. Whistle. As the debut song with Boombayah, whistle was pretty strong and a chill but flirty and playful choreography that still makes me wanna dance every time I see the girls move to the beat of the song. The choreography is for what you could call simple but I feel it's a good balance between chill and aggressive girl crush energy lol.

This is literally mine. D4 and KTL are camera dances and only look nice with great camera work. What puts D4 above KTL is Jennie's part in the beginning which is heavy on teamwork and looks great. Whistle is first even though it looks simple. Whistle has small movements that require specific executions. It's also the "sexiest" dance meaning that if you aren't applying confidence/sass to the dance you look stupid (hence why many thought Jennie was main dancer during this time).

umm i respect ur opinion, but i don't think that's the thing. ddu du ddu du is very very popular but i don't think that's the only reason of it. i mean we're listening to music after all, not choreography lol. an example, when you look at those biggest kpop hits they mostly have hella hard choreographies but did that stop them from being very popular and going viral? no. so i don't think that's the case. yg has definetely some smarter way to make bp's songs bops. ddu du ddu du is very popular mostly because of catchy beat (ecpecially chorus) and partially for the moves, but not because they're easy to memorize and dance, it's because the moves are kind of catchy for eyes too for example that chorus part with guns, it's definetely iconic part for bp.

Just to clear something up, the camerawork on American television isn’t “bad.” It just doesn’t utilize techniques that korean shows use. Take this from a film student, Korean camera work is meant to “enhance” the choreography drastically (ex. Fast movement, multiple angles, close up shots...). American camerawork is more of the raw product (no enhancing, everything is raw). Saying that the ddd choreography looked dull because of the camera work is simply not true. Many other kpop groups look great without the fancy camera work (ex. Bts when they were on gma). Please don’t blame the hard working camera crew. I’m not hating on blackpink, I’m just stating my opinion as a film student.
