As a high school baseball player from Stillwater I can 100% confirm that Jackson Holliday deserved #1 overall. He’d hit the ball a county mile, he’d make web gems like they were no big deal, and he’d do some things that you wouldn’t even think were humanly possible like when he made an on the run glove flip to first from the third base side of shortstop. This kid is insane!

Oh yeah? I say that Druw Jones should've been #1 overall. Wanna know why? Because I went to elementary school with him and saw him play tball once.
@kevinbillingsley82562 жыл бұрын
The O's took him because he's a left handed batter as opposed to Jones who is right. They had just moved the left field fence back to counter years of facing Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, both right-handed batters. Camden Yards is still a dream park for dead pull lefty hitters. Barring the unforeseen, Holliday will put many balls out on the right field flag court.

As a dbacks fan. Holy sweet mother of god i am so excited for the future, not only do we have a projected insane outfield in corbin carroll, alek thomas AND NOW druw freaking jones, but we ALSO have jordan lawlar, ketel marte, josh rojas (very under rated 3rd baseman he absolutely mashes), and we just drafted Ivan "the hispanic titanic" melendez for 1st base? Man that gets me excited and that doesn't even take into account the fact that we got daulton varsho, a man who not only roams the outfield well but plays catcher? The future is looking SO bright in AZ. The only issue is in the pitching side, which will hopefully be answered in free agency when the time for a playoff push comes

@KyleDannen Жыл бұрын
@@OhSoNasty huh? I mean if you are asking about druw jones i have no idea, he is still a kid developing in the minors, could be next year, could be 5 years, maybe it will never happen. I think he will turn out alright but there is never a guaruntee. If i had to guess he would be called up either 2025 or 2026. He got injured almost immediately after entering our minor league system and it will take a while for his bat to fully develop, afterall he is going straight from highschool to the pros and even at the lowest level of the minors three pitching is a huge step up, and this is talking about a prospect whos bat was mostly contact oriented. His bat is highly touted not from what he is shown but from what people project of him, since he is skinny and projected to gain a lot of power when he starts lifting weights and gains muscle to fill out his frame. How long will that take? Hard to say. But until he gets here, if he gets here, we have corbin carroll to lead the charge for this new era of dbacks baseball and i am excited.

As a O's fan I wanted Drew Jones bad but if we weren't gonna pick him I would had loved Holiday. I think there's a couple reasons why the O's picked Holiday #1 instead of Jones. 1st they are so loaded with OF prospects in their organization. They literally just picked a CF just 2 drafts ago maybe 3 at #5 n 2nd they felt by picking Jones they would have to spend more $ on him then on Holiday n by spending a little less have us the option to draft a guy later n give them Xtra $ so they could sign lk Beavers from Cal who's a giant! N 3rd u never know if any of the other SS u picked in the past will pan out or continue to play the position. We got Gunner Henderson who can play both SS/2B n Jordan Westberg. I think Gunner can be our SS until Jackson Holiday is ready in about 3-4 years. Our #3 prospect is Colton Cowser who's just about ready to be up n plus we got Mullins who's a All-Star CF who's still young. N we just brought up Kyle Stowers now that we got rid of Mancini who we all loved. I think the O's are in great shape for next year. Our rotation will be Grayson Rodriguez, DL Hall, John Means, Watkins pitched great yesterday or Tyler Wells who was was probably our best pitcher so far especially lately n then Kyle Bradish. Our bullpen is great yes we traded out All-Star Closer but to me Felix Baitista was next in line n is NASTY! We got Perez who's leading our bullpen in Era n a few other guys lk Akin who can give u 2 innings, Dillon Tate n other guys who's era's are in the low 3s n under. Our lineup now could be Mullins, Adley, Santander, Hays, Mountcastle, Gunner, Mateo(maybe), Urias,, Vavra n Cowser/Stowers.

If you follow the history of the Spankees, they have a habit of shuttling their top draft picks out and replacing them with "name" stars from other teams. This couldn’t be more incorrect, so last year the Angels drafted 20 pitchers because they were the best available every single time every round? People draft for need, sign ability, projection, it’s rarely the best player available, ever, how was prep arms lasting until the 3rd round when they were the 11th ranked prospect. Your logic lets me know everything I need.
