I can confirm they used black boxes to censor the nudity in The Room. However, they even made that a bit of a joke by making the black bars so huge that you quite literally couldn't tell what was going on in the scene because 50-80% of the screen was just black. It was hilarious.

I literally came here because I remembered watching when the 2004 prank happened and had to find out if it was real or not. I was impressed back then wondering just how they managed to draw all those goofy mustaches on top of the episodes and it remains a treasured memory of how Adult Swim was and has grown over the years.

The best part of the FMA fart episode was Ed delivering his poignant final speech to Rose while turning his back to her. Instead of just inserting the noise over the dialogue, they replaced his entire speech with the sounds. She was looking for answers to how her village was supposed to live without their crooked priest, and the answer she received was...farts. Her shocked facial expression made it even better

16:20 - i saw this on tv when it aired in 2007. and yes, i can confirm the audio played for the movie.. WITH ONE CATCH! It was playing the audio IN REVERSE. the audio started at the end of the movie working backwards.

I love their April Fools stuff because it is good and doesn't make me angry. That 2017 one really pissed me off. I was really invested in Season 5 of Samurai Jack. They even indicated and never updated the airing schedule. So, to find out that this show that I have never seen before and had zero interest in stole the time slot for Episode 3 or 4 (I don't remember which) yet acted like nothing was wrong was the final nail in the coffin for me generally despising April 1st. I loved Season 5 of Samurai Jack and was the first time that I got hyped for anything in the entertainment industry.

Call me biased, but I still think the SGC2C marathon from 2014 is still the best Adult Swim prank ever, only because of how nice of a tribute it is to the show. My runner up would be The Room marathons, namely the 2010 one with Space Ghost interviewing Tommy Wiseau. Overall this was a pretty cool video documenting all of their pranks, I enjoyed it a lot!

Absolutely fantastic retrospective of one of AS' most iconic pieces. I feel like these pranks have gone on to influence the entire network in more ways than one with various stealth premieres and special announcements at any given time of the year.

In hindsight, the 2012 [adult swim] AFD event wasn't a 'stunt' or 'prank'.....it was a loving AFD surprise to the fans of Toonami that A] showed those at [as] were still thinking of those fans, and B] was the litmus test to see if Toonami still mattered. Needless to say, it did, and that's what led to it's real rebirth 6 1/2 weeks later. And from my perspective, 2012 was the AFD magnum opus for [as]. Full stop. It didn't get better than showing the love to the anime fans out there. =)

Fun fact: I had a friend who was obsessed with Fullmetal Alchemist and the very first time I tuned in to see what all the fuss was about was April fools. It took me an embarrassingly long time into the episode before I realized it was an April’s Fools day prank and that farts were not just a part of FMA.

I'd stopped watching dubbed anime before the original Toonami block ended, but I still have nostalgia for it. I've never actually watched the new Toonami (I got rid of cable/dish a year before it returned, and even if I did, I won't watch dubbed anime anyway), but I still think it's cool it's back. I have a TOM Funko pop by my TV. Also just feels weird that it's been back for as long as the original incarnation lasted, it still feels like the comeback was recent. Hell, it feels like it was gone longer than it's been back, but it was only gone for like 4 years. Then again, time is weird, Adult Swim started when Cartoon Network was only 9 years old, yet it still feels kinda recent to me, even though I watched (well, recorded and watched later) the first ever night of Adult Swim, back when it was only 2 nights a week and the second night was a repeat of the first.

43:30 most people prefer the subs now. The localization teams stink at redubbing. I'd rather watch anime dubbed in Japanese with ENGLISH subtitles. (OR English Dub with translation subs) Translation subs are VITAL to figuring out what they change, add, or just get wrong. So much dialog in Dragon Ball is WRONG or just added to fill quiet. one that always comes to mind is the wish Krillin makes after the cell games. everything TRUNKS says is wrong. He talks in the english version while in Japanese he doesn't say anything while the wish is being made.
