Macho Grubba is definitely my favorite. The fight itself is so much fun cause he does so much, his boss theme is incredible and, from a personal standpoint, he was one of the first bosses I was able to beat damageless and one of the earliest bosses I learned to superguard almost perfectly against. Plus, he perfectly wrapped up my favorite chapter in the game, so he earned that first place. And for a bonus story, the Shadow Queen is an incredibly notable boss for me. She kicked my rear at least 20 times when I was a kid on my first play through and, in a symbolic show, she was the first boss to give me a true game over in my first play through of the remake. She's a REAL boss, a tough one and it's a breath of fresh air for the Mario series.

I’m probably biased because I played SPM first, but I think Dimentio was a better twist villain and bounced very well of the sympathetic Count Bleck. Shadow Queen is more like an ultimate evil who doesn’t have much a personality as much as she has power, and she doesn’t impact Grodus or Beldam’s characters all that well (tho physically she crippled Grodus BAD)

Shadow Queen is definitely my favorite. The dark atmosphere and amazing yet eerie music set the tone perfectly, and she’s just really intimidating too which I like. She really feels like a true threat and a true final boss.

Aww, you combined the dragons? My ranking for them would be for them: First: bonetail- while not being the hardest super boss anymore, it’s amazing, and I love it having all sorts of status effects Second: hooktail- a great character carried by a great chapter. The badge helps, and so does the sus dialogue. Third: gloomtail- cool, and the mega laser is awesome

I love ttyd bosses, the only complaint is they are on the easier side. But that made me love the shadow queen, she is the only fight (excluding postgame mind you) that got me a game over.

I like Shadow queen the most. The Shadow spirit alters princess Peach's appearance into crual queen after possessed Peach as new vessel to real resurrection. Fighting this queen is really intense, know meanig of terror, make feel despair and seriously strong with very high HPs. Her lighting magic attack is hard to guarded, deadly breath can caused poison or confuse so I use Feeling fine badge both Mario and partner to protect her status ailment.

I love the Shadow Queen fight because of its uniqueness. We never get to fight Peach, let alone a possessed Peach, and her apperance and presence is amazing. As someone who grew up with M&L instead of PM, it was refreshing to see Peach become possessed instead of Bowser (which happened twice lol), since it's something I could never imagine them doing. I wish Shadow Queen Peach could have showed her dominance a bit more before fighting her just to make it more climatic, but what we got was epic.

I would probably put Doopliss as one of my higher ranked bosses, since he is a very entertaining character, and similarly, Rawk Hawk and Macho Grubba rank high for that reason as well. Hooktail, too, ranks higher than her siblings just for the stage presence she has compared to the other two, where the novelty wore off a bit and they definitely lacked in character. And, of course, the Shadow Sirens and Shadow Queen are excellent encounters for the story the former tell and the atmosphere around the latter. Not sure how I would rank the bosses as a whole, but I would definitely say, based on your criteria, I would’ve put Smorg close to the bottom. I think the atmosphere around the fight is cool, but it just kinda comes out of nowhere with no build up. I wish the remake had added in a scene where Beldam was unleashing them or something, to give the Smorg more context. Still a real neat fight since the backdrop of the top of the Excess Express is amazing, and the design is real neat, but it just also has no personality as a mindless amalgam of monsters. This is a wonderful ranking video, though. Well done, all around.

I personally enjoyed the Prince Mush fight most; the need to either use Super Guards or 12 Power Rush Badges with 5 HP and use Power Bounce. And he is the closes to being like The Master from the OG Paper Mario. Also, I prefer Rawk Hawk over Macho Grubba given the cool moves and more awesome music. I also would have preferred to see Smorg higher on the list. And Whacka was a disappointment IMO; he felt easy compared to the other "Super bosses."

I think all variations/repeated bosses should be ranked separately. Mainly bc you are a little inconsistent with this. Also, the context with the repeated bosses and variations are usually a bit different. But I know it is your list, so obviously you can do what you want.

I was considering this! But I like this at it allowed me not to judge fights like crump in the prologue to harsh! Also didn’t want to include the regular enemies: red bones etc as they would have been dead last and not much to say about them other than their a normal enemy haha

Am i the only one who thinks chapter 3 is the worst one? I think the idea of the chapter is fantastic, but the fights are very repetitive. The mystery is fantastic though
