2018 was the most hype eoy. Anyone who says different wasnt playing at the time or they didnt pull murder mom. BBS was alive and well at that time, grinding was still actually grinding, everything was good. BBS discords were so alive you could hop on damn near anytime of the day and find 30 different people looking to farm co op

the unit in 2017 maybe bad but in the certain extend i think it stil better than 2019. The banner where the step up format still at it peak, reset everyday and mugetsu,aizen,barragan -top tier units was in the pool. So despite the unt sucks , the filler was really good. I think it deserves better

I mean in my opinion you are right but it's makes sense why Aaron put it like it 😅 . In my opinion 2021 was the best because the new designs + tybw + 10 years later never seen version were more hype . But it's interchangeable with 2018 which was the prime of bbs .

Well this TYBW 21 banner is the most hype eoy, good character’s choice (except Inoue) she’s just not hype for eoy, otherwise it’s fine, true shikai Ichigo and Yhwach is hype enough, even though I’d want fullbring bankai Ichigo, and get later true shikai, but I can’t do anything but waiting for Ichigo and Yhwach

While 2018 was hype, I think that most people are biased. If you look at it realistically then Unohana was PVP and good auto unit, Kenpachi felt bad to play, because he didn't have additional flashstep and small Yachiru was non-existent unit that was taking up slot in TYBW. It was basically two unit banner with one being pvp and the other feeling clunky. Still one of the best times it was to play BBS, but I don't know if it was top3 banner if you look at it without bias of Unohana. Loved Kenpachi's transformation and Unohana though.

2023 EOY was a terrible banner with characters that didn't hold up at all. Tosen was relevant for a few months, until Rangiku came out. Sajin was great until we saw Isshin. Sajin was in every brave battle team for the first month he was out, now seeing anyone use him is super rare. And lets be really honest, Tosen and Sajin are pretty much the bottom of the barrel in terms of popularity. Toshiro was ok, but again, he just didn't hold up that well. Of all the gauge characters in the game, he's easily the least impressive. And since they introduced the 70% gauge skill, he seems irrelevant. Guild quests, limit breaker, arena, etc, you always have better options than Toshiro. Doesn't help that these are also my 3 least favorite characters in Bleach.

Every eoy there is the best unit for the time, and every eom with some exceptions there is op unit, so it's not surprise that eoy is op, the problem is character choice: even squad 0 remake is more fitting than main antagonist and protagonist for eoy

But to say it’s meh when it has 50 steps, & every 5 star animation is a guaranteed 5 star of all the filler & main units on top of the op units it’s definitely not meh but if you don’t like it that’s ok because it’s definitely gonna be power creeped soon.
