​@@ryanmalik3378that's when you upgrade to plasma, that stuff eats threw any power armor. lasers do still have an effect on power armor though, it's not as effective as plasma, but a good laser rifle can put down one. now in a regular fight, lasers burn through almost any armor. the Institute pistols aren't as effective as the Rightous laser rifle you get from Danse, but they're pretty common. along with the Institute laser rifle. the laser rifle you get from Danse is pretty good, i usually change it up though from a rifle to a pistol. I usually keep that, until i get a better laser pistol later. but plasma weapons don't start dropping until you get to level 15 if im not mistaken, and their usually on gunners and attack bots.

I used to love Dogmeat, but then I started playing Fallout 4 VR. There is something in his code, he is just CONSTANTLY under foot, blocking every action you want to take. Open a box? Dogmeat menu. Switch weapons? Dogmeat menu. Open a door? Dogmeat menu. And if there is a narrow path you're trying to move down, you can bet Dogmeat will thrust himself in the way before you can get there.

I stopped using DogMeat just because, he always runs head first into combat. And when he gets downed I always got pissed off at whatever hurt him lol. Nick is my personal favorite though, his voice is awesome, his quest is great, his backstory is interesting, and his voice actor makes him seem so real. When he called me a good friend after giving a speech, it felt genuine, and kinda freaked me out.

fun fact about danse: if you have the Sentinel Control System CC (or whatever it was (i definitely advise you to get it, its basically another companion with invincible power armor. the only downside is no default weapon or affinity. (you can even give it liberty prime's voice))) then you can have 3 people in power armor just mowing down everything in existence. too bad that its really hard to do early game.

I used nearly every companion throughout the game. When I found Cait 😍. Love at first sight. After I freed her from her drug addiction we fell in love and she was my companion all the way until I met Curie ❤. Going through her whole quest to make her more human, give her a synth body and then we feel in love. I kept her as my main until I met Ada 👌. I was already maxed out on hacking, lockpicking, pretty much everything. When I saw all the amazing upgrades to Ada, she's now my number one! Insanely powerful, fast, aggressive, encouraging, appreciative, and absolutely deadly!

When I first got the game, I just used whatever companion seemed appropriate, using Preston, Dog, Piper, Nick. No affinities, very few perks. After watching the Amazon series, I've gone back to really suck the marrow out of the game. Now, I've found all of them (except I got locked out of Danse and X6-88) and found them very engaging (quests) and useful. Thanks for the ranking. I mostly agree.

When I first started playing Fallout 4, I was such an enthusiast for the BoS, and I really liked the turn of events. Except when I had to kill Paladin Dance, right then and there I searched for a way that could fill my companion spot. Oh boy…..when I found Curie, I definitely felt actual butterflies in my stomach. She’s an absolute tank of a companion and just a wholesome, innocent girl who doesn’t deserve to be in a wasteland like this.

A question - how do you actually “find Curie”? I’m a Curie main myself, but I basically went into the game knowing that I’ll use her as the companion, I googled all the things I need to do for her quest and I still had issues. I do not understand how you can actually accidentally stumble upon the quest to get her, like, it just assumes you’d actually talk to every single NPC in vault 81 while returning there at least 3-4 times just for fun?

You don't need to pass a point of no return for any faction to get X6-88. To be fair, it's extremely close. You get him right before you can choose to go into the teleporter to Mass Fusion (which does lock out the Brotherhood) but if you never go into that teleporter, you can have him and every other companion.

As a companion, Dogmeat is F tier or lower. I am so glad he's in the game. I love him guarding my house. But listening to him yelp in pain every time he gets hurt... I can't do that. I've had dogs all my life and hearing one in pain is so much worse than nails on a chalkboard. Something I love about Fallout 4 companions is how divided the community is about them all. Literally every single companion has a group of devoted fans (and they are also all pretty chill and dont disrespect other companions). Its so fun to read comments under such videos, where all these groups are arguing. Not once have I seen a comment section with companion discussion without fans of McReady, Curie, Hancock, Strong or any other ‘less popular” companion.

Dogmeat can be upgraded through the attack dog perk to the point he kills in one bite, he's my favourite too, I laugh at the items he picks up if I don't get there quick enough when he alerts me to him finding something he had 2 miniguns , 2 grenades and 3 jet on him.

Nick Valentine is my favorite companion! He has alot to say about the areas you visit and has ties to the best Fallout DLC in the franchise. I loved his story in the base game and then i had an excuse to continue roaming with him in Far Harbour *chefs kiss* I also love the parallels between him in the player; both have memories from before the war, both woke up in the post apocalypse, and both had to find a new purpose in life. I feel like other than Codsworth, he is the only being that can really comiserate with the player and understand what the player has gone through. Ive down whole play throughs with just the Synth Detective at my side. Nick's gumshoe personality is just the frosting on a wonderful cake.

I know its probably just a bug but the lone wanderer perk working with dog meat makes so much sense considering how the game plays out. The railroad call you the wanderer if they choose your name for you and the promo art for the game on steam is literally Nora walking into a sunny waste land with dogmeat almost a exact parallel of the lone wanderer perk image.

I love having Preston purely for the community savior vibes. My most recent run I started off wanting to finnally go with survival lone wander dogmeat run.... then I wanted the minutemen vibes. I just love settlement building too much. It's my favorite feature and no matter what way I play, I have it revolve around making settlements.

MacCready is usually my go-to. I love his random comments, there's the free ammo, any lost affinity can be boosted back up with stealing, asking for more caps, and breaking into places (So the Clearing Out Goodneighbor houses is a great side quest with him), I don't lose affinity for cannibalism (Great for survival if you want a little less radiation without losing someone's affinity), I like using a sniped-up Overseer's Guardian so his perk is great for that, he's voiced by Matt Mercer, and the Mutfruit line always cracks me up.

Dogmeat in my game already has welding glasses, bandana, and light dog armor :) The dog isn’t bugged. I have a pet on my solo girl in Starfield n it doesn’t affect it at all. :) thank you BGS!

Okay I understand putting Dogmeat in number 1 (Rex from New Vegas is my favorite companion) but like, I genuinely prefer to have anyone else because I dont like Dogmeat. I know I know, Controversial opinion, but it's only because I would like someone to "talk" too while I tear through people with my Shredder. If he could come along as WELL as another companion, then Great!

i dumped all my points into crafting perks and when i built the ultimate automatron it made getting xp from enemies impossible because it killed things too fast, even bosses

Yeah, I turned Codsworth into a killing machine and took him to Saugus for a field test. He was killing everything before I could even acquire targets. At that point, you're the companion. But I can live with it. Also, his trash talking is second only to Valentine.

Actually strongs default weapon is a sledge hammer, he actually picks up random guns and uses it.strong also is so powerful with atoms judgment(especially with the best upgrade to the best modification)…but yeah it’s understandable why people don’t like him, I see him as a true super mutant rather then the great written ones (Also fallout new Vegas companions when?)

I have Curie and I put her in a power armor and she survives easily even the mininuke though the maintenance of power armor is a downside but she is really strong and no fussion cores needed Edit: she also has nice weapon though it seems she's constantly generating new ones for some reason probably a bug

Lone Wanderer working as intended with Dogmeat. While the dmg resistant and carry is nice. You really can outdo that with companions. Enemies will often split fire between companions or entirely forcus on them eg) dance in arcjet. They wont focus on dogmeat the same. But they are you know bethesda companions so yeah. Honestly I find charisma perked compaions the best in the end but thats an investment.

The entertainment value of the companions matter more to me than their combat abilities. Deacon got interesting mechanic of changing disguise every so often, he cracks jokes during some quest dialogues. Curie got a cute voice and is interesting on how she has a sense of wonder when exploring the wasteland. If you keep Curie as a robot, you can modify her using the robot workbench and she can be absolutely deadly companion. But of course gooners will want the cute French synth more. Nick also has interesting voice lines when exploring the wastelands, his companion quest is also interesting. As well as a free master level hacker.
