@@rangabusi I get your point, but if you look at the jazz team, gobert is the one really holding the defense while there is no more very good defender in the team
@rangabusi
@rangabusi 3 жыл бұрын
@@ccr2538 He is definitely the best defender on the jazz who actually have some good defenders. But Giannis’ defensive ability I believe to be greater. He can be a valuable addition to any defence whereas Gobert is very limited. If a team has a center that can shoot Gobert is stranded more times than not because of his inability to close out. Or in high pick and rolls where the centre can shoot he is no good all. He can’t defend the shooting big man as he’s not a good perimeter defender. Also by no means is he going to stop the guard from rolling to the hoop for the layup if they get the blow by. So if you exploit a guy who is prided on there defence then it makes their contribution less valued IMO. So by all means if you want a rim protector take Rudy but if you want someone who can guard anywhere in the floor to a high level then I’d take Giannis.
@Jim_Boylen
@Jim_Boylen 3 жыл бұрын
Wtf giannis can guard/switch 1-5, can be the drop big, weak side defender and also a primary defender on wings. Gobert can only be effective in the paint and the clippers abused this. Giannis doesn't have defensive limitations besides maybe going through 1000 screens.

The defencive part of the game is so much more than just blocks and steals. Blocks and steals impacting not even the 5% of the plays in a whole game. People need to change the way they seeing some things. Giannis should be at least top-5 on that list just because he can cover defencive holes everywhere on the court and he can guard all 5 positions, from a pg to a center. How many players can do that? Just think about it.

12:18 *AND* 14:48 BIG issue. Hakeem SHOULD be #4 or #5 on the blocked shots list. Kareem is definitely ahead of him, though only a little - had blocks been COUNTED during Kareem's first 4 seasons. Nate Thurmond ALSO got hit hard by blocks not being counted prior to the 1973-1974 season - he lost most of his CAREER there. Probably at least #5 on the list and MIGHT be as high as #3. Note that the first "official" Quad Double was Nate - in the VERY FIRST GAME that they were officially counted during his career, he had *12* of them in his *13th* season in the league! Then there are Wilt and Bill (probably), or Bill and Wilt, both of whom probably have WELL over 5000 and likely over 7000 total career blocks - in SHORTER careers than Hakeem or Kareem - but blocks were not COUNTED when either played. Obviously this moved Mtumbo down too - at least to 5'th, likely 6'th depending on where Nate ended up.
