@@rangabusi I get your point, but if you look at the jazz team, gobert is the one really holding the defense while there is no more very good defender in the team
@rangabusi3 жыл бұрын
@@ccr2538 He is definitely the best defender on the jazz who actually have some good defenders. But Giannis’ defensive ability I believe to be greater. He can be a valuable addition to any defence whereas Gobert is very limited. If a team has a center that can shoot Gobert is stranded more times than not because of his inability to close out. Or in high pick and rolls where the centre can shoot he is no good all. He can’t defend the shooting big man as he’s not a good perimeter defender. Also by no means is he going to stop the guard from rolling to the hoop for the layup if they get the blow by. So if you exploit a guy who is prided on there defence then it makes their contribution less valued IMO. So by all means if you want a rim protector take Rudy but if you want someone who can guard anywhere in the floor to a high level then I’d take Giannis.

Dwight should of been higher. Jordan should have been way lower like below Mark Eaton. You literally put two players over him that were on his team
@magicmerl77493 жыл бұрын
I dunno, I feel like Dwight's been rated pretty fairly. He's ahead of Ben Wallace, which I don't agree with and an advanced stats breakdown of his blocks found that they were the least valuable blocks in the NBA that year (in terms of his team regaining possession). Agree on Jordan. He should be about 20th I think.

Draymond Green is probably the best defensive player of all-time. He should be #1, not #21.
@kirkmaxwellofficial3 жыл бұрын
I think you are underrating Draymond Green pretty hard here. He was not only the defensive anchor but also the defensive mind behind a top 3 team all time. You can't overlook that.
@TAJY263 жыл бұрын
There are better defensive players throughout the history of the game than Draymond. Don't be caught up in the recent hype. Draymond is the defensive anchor of those GSW teams but do not forget the engine that makes those GSW teams go, the Splash Brothers. Without Klay and Steph those teams wouldnt achieve dynasty status. Dray is good but he is clueless if he thinks he is among the greatest defenders of all time

@@TAJY26 lmao no lol.
@jarrodtollison35302 жыл бұрын
Basing this off rebounds, steals and blocks is dumb as fuck. Draymond that low is just stupid and saying Klay guarded the best player in the other team is irrelevant cos GSW was switch heavy regardless and Draymond was the defensive leader of that team.

12:18 *AND* 14:48 BIG issue. Hakeem SHOULD be #4 or #5 on the blocked shots list. Kareem is definitely ahead of him, though only a little - had blocks been COUNTED during Kareem's first 4 seasons. Nate Thurmond ALSO got hit hard by blocks not being counted prior to the 1973-1974 season - he lost most of his CAREER there. Probably at least #5 on the list and MIGHT be as high as #3. Note that the first "official" Quad Double was Nate - in the VERY FIRST GAME that they were officially counted during his career, he had *12* of them in his *13th* season in the league! Then there are Wilt and Bill (probably), or Bill and Wilt, both of whom probably have WELL over 5000 and likely over 7000 total career blocks - in SHORTER careers than Hakeem or Kareem - but blocks were not COUNTED when either played. Obviously this moved Mtumbo down too - at least to 5'th, likely 6'th depending on where Nate ended up.

I think that the problem with this video is that fact that he's only considered stats. Defense isnt just about blocks, steals, and rebounds. Position, rotation and intimidation are as important to me. For example, i would have ranked marc gasol way higher, as he knew exactly where to be in rotations and pick and rolls
@exilhamburger48023 жыл бұрын
Still for overall defensive impact during his career Hakeem would yield the first place for Bill Russell. Who would (together with Wilt) sit on the top of the all-time Block List, had this stat been counted during his aera.

Cooper at 17 is ridiculous. He should be higher. I would even consider him for the triplet instead of Worthy because he was with the Lakers for all the Magic titles.

a. those records are unofficial b. the environment they played in made it WAY more common to get blocks and rebounds... high possession per game rates, low fg%, and almost everyone was shooting shots right under the basket, not to mention the part time desk job workers and plumbers
