MatPat is a huge analytics guy. He has consulted many of KZbin's largest channels professionally on stuff like call to actions and how and when to use them. Many KZbinrs use that "only X% of my viewers are subscribed" line as a CTA to drive subs; They likely learned it directly or indirectly from MatPat.

3:20 I remember that AVGN video. It was kinda my first Game Theory video. And I remember it being not the best first impression for me 😅. I was like; “What’s with how he’s phrasing his points like he legit thinks the Nerd & James are literal separate people & not just a persona?”. I guess he phrased them like that to be funny, but I didn’t find the shtick all that funny 😩🤷‍♂️. There’s a part of me that’s surprised you aren’t aware of AVGN, while there’s another that understands as I ain’t aware of most popular media.

I still can't get over the moph ball episode- I mean- just- She's IN a Space Suit! It's a big bulky suit of armor! You can't expect someone to crawl around an alien planet on their hands and knees in a bulky space suit, that's not really practical! Not to mention it literally drops explosives and offers a lot of protection. Spheres can take tons of pressure and stuff. There are so many obvious advantages that just get dropped for slowly fumbling your way around in a bulky outfit (instead of swiftly rolling) just because it's bigger than Samus would be on all fours. What the heck, MattPatt?!

God, it's just now really hitting me how much MattPatt's videos are just Brian David Gilbert's Unraveled series, but without the actual mental breakdown. Like MattPatt literally just spirals into nonsense, but then just comes to a conclusion and runs with it no matter how weird it is instead of turning the whole bit into the joke like BDG does.

Honestly don't agree with some of the placements of this list, especially Sans is Ness and the Mario Sociopath theories, since in my eyes they're some of the most hyperbolic edgy theories Matpat has ever made, but the video is really charming either way. 👍 And well done on watching 100+ game theory episodes. Most would crumble at such a daunting task.

12:00 We didn't learn anything in particular. People like to pretend that identifying as a gender and being born of a sex are meaningful differences. Matpat's video was about objectively finding out what Pyro's gender was which was about finding out Pyro's sex, not guessing what Pyro identifies as. In order to that we'd have to know even more about how Pyro thinks, and I don't think even now we have that much information on Pyro.

So…when are you gonna give Film, Food & Style theory the same treatment 😂? As his theory on Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared is quite the popular one. Even if there’s proof that he wasn’t the originator of that theory 😅😓… I have some nostalgia for those videos, but I weirdly have more nostalgia of videos debunking MatPat’s points. Usually from MangaKamen. Resulting in me having a tough time looking at certain videos like his “Ness is Sans” or “Mario is Evil” with a straight face.

24:00 The sad part is that the only difference between then and now is that now we allow bad actors in the LGBT community to do these things so often that trans support is lower now than it was when LGBT characters were portrayed in a more consistently negative way. I mean off the top of my head there's essence of thought who is harassing a woman for basically having an opinion. Keffals who conned their fans and is just a drama monger. Jadyn who is the same but swap con artist with racist. We got Lily Orchard who is one of the worst people in the cartoon commentary community. We have Red Pagan who blindly took Mamamax's side and allowed a troll to enter a space where supposed abuse victims were sharing private information. Said individual also abandoned their family to be trans. There's Chris who is Mr. Beast's friend that was a fan of Shadman who already had a reputation for being a creep and Chris liked Shadman's work (which often involved sexual drawings of underage people) that they bought an illustration and displayed it in their home. We have Demonmama who joined in on the dogpiling of Shoeonhead who merely questioned the motives of Balenciaga having a lolita themed photo shoot. Let me know if this isn't damning enough and I'll find more.
