(I went to a mostly all black high school here in Canada so I actually related abit to this show) It was hilarious and I still love the first 3 seasons. But my Younger bro who isn't like me at all can't stand the show and hes the type to watch those cheesy copy pasta kawaii animes that annoy the f outta me.

As a kid I always liked the show because it was more adult topic oriented as well as mature in the writing compared to what was available at the time on Adult Swim. It wasn't until after middle school and high school I actually went back to rewatch it and it hit a bit differently when I had more understanding on some of the undertones in some of the episodes. The more between the lines things I picked up on almost instantly as an adult, yet the more obvious things I kind of ignored I guess because I felt some of the more obviously intended messages felt a bit too racially charged for me to want to accept. However it wasn't until I was working at a gas station just chatting with a male coworker during the downtime that was named "Stacy" because he was at the time wearing a Huey shirt underneath the aprons we had in the kitchen. One of these things I didn't want to kind of take as truth was the clear depiction between Huey and Riley. That in conversation was the first thing he led in with and it still sits in my mind to hear this guy just no fucks given say "I like the show because Huey is what I aspire to be, and Riley was what my friends made me think I wanted to be in school." It was pretty awesome being able to converse on the deeper points of the show with someone who you could say was "within the target audience" and it not lead into something as braindead and stupid as "I heard the N word said, that show is racist and you're bad for liking it." Like sure, but I also don't think there was a point the word was said pointlessly aside from illustrating some kind of point. Like how Uncle Ruckus has nothing in retort so he just throws it out to express dissatisfaction with the speaker. I think the most interesting takeaway from the conversations though is something Chill Review mentioned as well when it came to the episode "The Itis." To me it was just some message about "black cuisine" (I don't know a better term) being grossly unhealthy considering the kinds of food he was shoving in their faces and poking at eating habits. Stacy had a college essay level dissection of that episode at the ready one day and until that point it completely went over my head the episode was a direct parallel to introducing drugs to black communities, destabilizing them and then buying up the property for some later project. Even to this day I still make references to this cartoon when I've entered my 30s here and more and more some of the messages feel even more true today than back then. I think MLK was spinning in his fucking grave when college students were trying to have segregated graduation ceremonies a couple years back. Though if I'm being honest I think he'd take a lot of umbrage with the trend people in general have now where they try to divide themselves into groups based on an identity rather than seeking to seamlessly assimilate with the masses. Was kind of his whole fucking point was that we're human above skin colors first and foremost. He'd probably have scoffed at CHAZ with their "POC Only" gardening patch and that's a move done by people who claim they stand for everything this dude said.

Just saw the Boondocks Season 1 Review. Did you know that Wingmen has the most amount of Aaron McGruder in it -literally, because he voices Young Grandpa! That blew my mind because the voice cast was not skimping in any aspect, Samuel J, Snoop Dogg, goddamn Billy Dee Williams (as himself)... yet Aaron literally put every part of himself into his work. Frankly, I think that's why the show simply isn't itself without him.

19:03 when I was watching that episode for the first time and heard Rock n Roll Gangster playing, I lost it. That's one of my all time favorite songs ever and the fact it was in one of the biggest moments of the show, it felt special and really added to the scene

@chillreview636 I'd say s tier has to be small just to make the tier special, but season 1, r kelly, granddads fight, date with the health inspector, return of the king, passion of ruckus, season 2, Tom Sarah and usher, the s word, the story of catcher freeman, Ballin, season 3, the story of Jimmy rebel, the Red ball, the fund raiser, season 4, the new black. Jesus I got a lot of s tier episodes way more than I feel like I should have and I feel like there are a couple I didn't put in that are pretty good episodes, like stinkmeaner returns, let's nab Oprah, Riley was here, wingmen, chicken fried flu, but the only episode I could be able to drop I included was the red ball but I really enjoy that episode and encourage a rewatch because it holds up every time. 24% of the episodes of the show I threw in s tier. 😬🤣🤦🏿‍♂️

Excellent Video! It really shows how difficult it is to maintain that spark in any level of creativity. Television, Movies, Music & Boondocks is another example of it. Trying to capture magic & moments at a high level is rare. Season 1 was a moment in time but S2 & S3 still carry their version of greatness too. Never watched S4 I'ma try to keep it that way lol. Aaron should be very proud of his vision cuz it created a generational show & you did the show justice. Salute!

Like... Black culture was something else back in the 2000's. But I can't say that much about it because my dumb ass was raised in a small town in newfoundland when I was a kid. But when I moved to Toronto, it all started to look like boondocks, except it was my white ass in a black neighborhood. Like... Good video. This is the 1st boondocks tier list I've seen and I like how you briefly explain why you're placing an episode in a category. The weird sounds that covers up certain curse words are loud and take me out of the experience though. They don't match with the tone that the music is setting making them jarring to listen to. The video would be better if they were removed imo. The content of the video itself was great though.

As far as season 3… Mr. Medicinal. Easy A/high B for me and ebony a B for me. I’ve rewatched Medicinal, fried chicken, and Lando episode countless times. Color ruckus definitely A for me. Huey’s arch was very realistic as depressing as it may be. Side not Christmas episode a high B for me and The Real a low B personally

I’m sorry but you trully don’t give enough credit to season 3, i get it ain’t like 1 and 2 maybe you just liked the more serious tone of season 1 which I also really love but there were also a lot of serious moments in season 3. Not sure if they went over ya head but they had them. Id honestly say if they were to bring back boondocks in some I think it’d work if it was mainly serious. Mr. Medicinal though it’s actually hilarious An yea it don’t got no other meaning to it but I think that episode is honestly just for laughs. It’s ok if they only made one just for laughs An that’s it. I think that should easily be A or S as far as comedy, you ain’t think that episode was funny? I agree though season 3 wasn’t as serious or deep as it could have been, I think you should do a video on just Huey and Jazmine an the potential that relationship had.
