Ranking Every John Wick Movie!

We’ll see how the Ballerina and Continental spin-offs stack up against these main films. And then of course if we ever get the mythical 5th installment that was almost filmed back-to-back with the 4th one…we’ll have to surgically reattach our lower jaws back on after they crashed crashed onto the ground before reevaluating this list.

I have my Nitpicks with Chapter 4-Scott’s fat suit, the music cues were fun but didn’t hit super hard, of course Keanu’s acting-but despite the nitpicks I still feel like it’s a perfect action movie.

Of course they're all perfect and I couldn't ask Mr. Reeves and Mr. Stahelski for anything more. But it's interesting to think about what was left behind for the later installments. The first 2 movies had more opportunity for Reeves to portray the trauma and struggle of finding happiness again. We even got a quiet moment of him and Common sharing a drink after fighting. I'd love to see the next film include a couple quiet scenes of Wick enjoying peaceful moments or bonding with people around him. There was also more comedy in the first movie with the "he's at it again" reactions from the side characters. The cop that comes by and just says "You workin' again John?" and walks away. I loved that tone and it didn't really show up again.

From a martial arts point of view, I agree with you. But as movies I still think the first one is best, then 2,4 and 3 as the worst.

Did you see the Korean film the Killer from 2022. It literally feels like A Korean John Wick side story

4 is definitely the best, and 2 certainly the worst. It just depends where you rank 1 and 3. I found some of the CGI in 3 pretty distracting and thought the bike chase was not as good as the one in The Villainess that inspired it.

I know I'm in the minority and it's still awesome, but for me, 3 is EASILY the worst. Starts out great, but after the weapons museum knife fight and the Halle Berry/puppies shootout, nothing else slapped. Between what I found to be just okay fights against very exciting opponents (Cecep, Yayan, and Dacascos), repetitive fights against random stuntmen (the normally awesome but seemingly endless Judo move/headshot combos were starting to grate) and the completely uninteresting Adjudicator (and other assorted inner-political) scenes, I was bored. I've felt differently on subsequent rewatches but stand by my gripes and placement. Part 4 made up for everything! 3, 2, 1, 4
