In my opinion, I think Pinocchio Story is Kanye saddest song and one of his best. The fact that he raps about wanting to desperately get a piece of his old life back and be treated like a real human while you can audibly hear the contradiction through the screaming crowd is absolutely heartbreaking, and is a constant reminder throughout the whole song that what he wants will never ever be possible. The song would probably sound a lot better if it was recorded in studio but then the whole message of the song is lost. I still ball my eyes out when this track comes on when I play 808’s fully most of the time. I completely understand why people don’t like it but the song clicks perfectly for me.

The fact so many can disagree on Kanye’s discography is what makes him one of the best artists of our generation (millennial/gen z combined). He’s the Bob Dylan/Jim Morrison of our generation with how he revolutionized modern hip hop and pop. I just wish we still had Graduation Kanye :-(.
