The game isn’t bad on its own. The problem is that most people played the original also and it’s a really bad remake, which butchered the main villain of the game and cut many locations. I think the main issue is that they rushed the game. It needed another year of development.

For me Re1 remake is the perfect resident evil game. Its modernized, but still has that real re feel to it. Nothing against modern remakes though, i love them too

I’m new to this franchise and tried to play the remake, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. However, I’m interested in playing 2 and onward. Should I stick with the remakes or try the originals?

@@hablandoshet well if you dont like RE1 remake, i dont think you enjoy originals 1-3. They all have tank controls, fixed camera etc. Re1remake is pretty much the same, but better graphics and and little smoother controls. But it adds lot to the story and athmosphere. Maybe you should play 2-4 remakes and 7 and village if you like more modern gameplay

@@hablandoshet Well the originals are pretty much like the REmake just less „smooth“ and more clunky and worse looking. They‘re great experiences but an gripes you had with the REmake are likely exacerbated in the originals.

@@hablandoshetdefine tried, because when I got into the series I tried it and hated it at first but it’s because I didn’t know what to do or where to go, I wasn’t familiar with the control scheme at all either, but once I watched a SPEED RUN walkthrough and played along with it and that made it a blast and once you get it, I promise you it’ll click, start with Jill then Chris, and just give it a fair chance and lmk what you think because I was in your shoes once. Now I put what was my 2nd least favorite above the other remakes and it’s my number 1 with 8 and 2 remake.

I’m not a huge fan of 4 in general, I know….. shoot me, but use the god awful controls in OG 4 and you’ll appreciate the simplicity of OG REmake controls, and tank controls controlled a lot better for me then the joystick controls due to the camera changes on staircases

RE2 Remake got me into the series as a whole. Love it, now. I really do the love the slower paced survival horror stuff the most, and RE2 Remake just nails it. Love RE4 Remake as well, just a great series.

If you have a friend to play with, RE6 is a blast! I didn't want to play it or like it, but a friend of mine basically forced me to play it and I'm really glad he did! The game is ridiculously fun! Especially it's Mercenaries mode! Also, I want a Code Veronica Remake sooooo bad! Also, Also, I would love a rerelease of Outbreak 1 and 2 or they should make an Outbreak 3!

Although most people disagree, Resident Evil 6 is an outstanding game. Despite action being the primary focus of the game, it is still largely unrecognized as an entertaining experience.

- The story is so stupid even for RE standards. - The pacing is terrible and the game goes on and on and on, it's waay too long. - The level design and the monster design is godawful. - The camera is terrible. - The UI is terrible. - Too many QTEs. + The shooting and movement is great + The Mercenaries is great + Chris's story and Sherry's story are interesting Yeah only three pros and the rest is all cons. Honestly if RE6 got a remake it could really benefit from it.

Resident Evil is one of if not my favorite video game franchise of all time. RE7 may be the first game I played through, but RE2 remake pretty much solidified my love for this series. RE2 remake is still to this day my favorite in this series. Also on the side note, do you plan on doing a ranking video on the Spiser-Man games?

I didnt start playing any RE games until this year. The first one came out when i was in first grade. RE7 was the one i was the most nervous to play, but ended up being my favorite. After the biss fight with jack and getting to the RV for the first time, such a rush man. Felt like the first time I played dark souls way back in the day. Wish they kept the vibe going the whole game. The shooter second half wasnt as good, but those first 4-6 hours were electric.

Resident Evil 6 was actually my first Resident Evil game, I'd seen the cutscenes of the others, but 6 was where I first played it, and it honestly was pretty good, it was enough to hook me onto the series. I've got the platinums for RE2 Remake, RE3 Remake, RE4 Original has no platinum, RE4 Remake, RE5, RE6, and RE Revelations 2.

Again an absolutely fantastic video,I'm Nemesis all the way. I feel that at the time it released I went in my lunch break to buy it and my boss sent me home to play it. I've not finished 5,6 or even looked at Village....so I'm doing a complete play through of them all. Bought a Dreamcast for Veronica and a game cube for the remake...FFS I have the umbrella corp logo inked on my neck. I'm totally going to do them all again,including the remakes,love your content but for me it's always going to be Nemesis 😂

Great video. I myself have gone through a crap ton of RE games this year as well. What started out as just as simple replay of the remakes to 2 and 3 so I could play the remake of 4 ended up seeing myself replaying 5 and 6 along with finally tackling 7 and 8, rebuying a ton of the games I used to own, watching all of the movies, and ending it all with my own retrospective that I have releasing on Halloween. Oh, and I did pick up the Revelations games, but I haven't played them yet. I do disagree with you on there not needing a new remake to RE1. Yes, I love the first remake, but I would still like to have a new remake that plays in the RE Engine and has the updated save system as well. I was never a fan of the ink ribbon system back in the 90s, but that's just how games were back then. Nowadays, it's quite tedious and unnecessary in my book. Plus, they could finally fix the flaws with Rebecca's character since she doesn't even seem to be the same person who just went through hell the night before. Anyway, the remake to 2 is hands down my favorite RE game, though the remake to 4 is close.

It’s interesting because depending on when you were first introduced and played RE will influence which title is the best. For me I first playes RE back in 98 with the original Director Cut. So that original feel, pre-rendered, nostalgia, makes me cherish the originals. RE 3 original being my all time favorite. CV and Outbreak were the pinnacle of original RE. RE 4 and beyond just get too action and crazy for me for someone who appreciates original RE. Their great games for sure but to me not so much “RE” in regards to story. However I do appreciate these later titles because they have breathes new life into my favorite game franchise and now we get remakes of those originals.

For me, I was introduced to the franchise through 7's release, then the remakes of 2 and 3. After 7, I heard others talk about the franchise and after trying to play the original 4, I stopped due to its control style. Similarly stopped trying to play the RE1 remake due to those controls. And when I found out the most recent version allowed you to switch to more modernized controls, I still gave up after a while due to getting lost and having no clue how to solve puzzles or where to go. So far, my personal favorite game in the franchise is the remake of 4, which I was so excited for since it meant I could finally experience the story people praised so much.

For me as far as the top two I'd have to go with #1 being Resident Evil 1 remake and #2 the original Resident evil 2. I found RE2 remake to be just too short of a game. I didnt feel like I was really in the police station for long at all. I would have expanded the police station and cut the sewers and nest area down if there needed to be a trade-off.

The amount of content they cut from original Resi 2 just stings. If you don't know what you're missing then you wont know how good it was. Leon and Claire really did feel they were having an adventure together. The remake they pretty much only see each other at the end.

​@@keychainere My problem with RE2 2019 is the exact opposite. I think the Police Station section lasts for too long. I would have cut it down Police Station and added something new between the Street outside of the Station and the Sewers. I am yet to play the original but I think it had another section. Another problem is How Leon and Claire not having seperate playthroughs. I wish Leon and Claire and even Sherry met a lot more than they usually do. And I wish Claire's playthrough was different.

To me Revelations 1 had the better story, characters, villains, especially Jack Norman who was way more fun and challenging than Alex from Rev 2. Now Rev 2 had the better Raid mode by far, along with the events of Weekend Survivor are the only things, this game had over 1. My huge problems with 2 was Moira and Natalia are annoying, especially Moira. That chick is by far the most awful and annoying character in RE. Now mentioning Alex Wesker, the only interesting thing about her is, she’s Albert’s sister, other than that, nothing of else is interesting.

I’m gonna say this before watching the video, since i’ve only seen the intro. I really liked RE7, but my favorite is actually RER2. It’s definitely in part due to nostalgia, as it was my first one and I played it with my sister when I was still pretty young xD We were playing co-op together and it was just such a great time, so many fun memories. I won’t hold it against you in the slightest if you rank it super low, cuz it’s definitely got its flaws from an objective standpoint. I’m really rooting for it though, hoping you put it high up :)

I started playing residnt evil zero for the first time 2 weeks ago in order to play all the games in chronological order and I absolutely love it. I have installed the item box mod so definitely makes it more playable but I love the difficulty and all the levels.

I agree, and RE4 was my very first re game. I prefer zombies, and I only liked the village and a third of the castle section. Maybe the regenerators area, but it was just a decent part on the shitty island section. I loved the franchise because of the great maze-like level design, not for a linear shooting range.

Re2 was my first game. As in actually the first video game I got into ever. I absolutely love the franchise and every one of them has great bits, even re5 which is actually one of my favorites, despite the ai which is definitely very bad, re4 was amazing, and I just got the remake last week but only played the opening as I work alot and I like to play when I have plenty of time for it, the village at the beginning (re4 not re8) wrecked me 5 times before I got through, which holds up because I always sucked at it lol. 25+ years of good times, here's to 25 more. Re4 remake so far is fantastic btw.

My first Resident Evil was I believe RE2 for the ps1. I remember playing it at my dads friends house or something when I was like 9 years old, gotta eaten by some zombies before getting to the police station. I was both facinated and horrified as I had never seen anything like it! Sometime later when I had my own playstation I somehow managed to convince my dad to get me RE1 on the playstation. I remember playing it, but being pretty scared of it at the same time. Still had a blast. Now my rankings hmm it's pretty tough but I'll give it a shot. 16. Resident Evil 6 15. Revelations 14. I got RE1 when it came out, with the big Playstation game case. It scared the crap outta me when the dogs jumped in the windows. I played it tripping on lsd, i looked down and there was one of the biggest spiders ive ever seen NOT at a pet store. I just got RE 4, 5 and 6 digital pack for 11 dollars about a month ago. I got RE 1 and 2 remake for 20. Im just missing 3 for the numerical series.

I think Resident Evil 7 would be my favorite just because it's got the VR, walking down the tight corridors of the old house was pretty scary especially in VR. And it brought back the tight claustrophobic hallways. The villains felt more grounded than re8.

One thing I don't understand about RE3 remake is that the devs saw the positive reception to the changes that Mr. X in RE2 remake got and then completely changed the character that perfectly fills that role in RE3. It's a shame really because while the changes to the overall gameplay were also contentious, I actually enjoyed the more arcade shooter style this game had. It feel like the fastest paced game of all them and the amount of content the cut gets you to the finish line far too fast. They missed a golden opportunity because that game could have been incredible if they just changed a handful of decisions.

The RE1 ‘96 vs the Gamecube version is a perfect example of how much of a jump the “next generation” hardware used to take. (Also provides more justification for my purchase of Gamecube over a PS2 in HS)

one thing i wanna say about resident evil 4 and its remake, is that I loved they expanded the chief mendez story which was awesome but the orginal resident evil 4, Ramon Salazar was way better. I know him and leon were cheezy towards each other but imo, it worked super well.

RE5 was the Resident Evil game I beat, and while I think it is a weaker game in the series, I will say this: the co-op literally completely changes the experience. I played with my dad, and if ya'll are 2000's gamers at all, there is something about this era of co-op that is just so incredibly different. RE5 sits alongside Army of Two and Conflict Desert Storm as really unique, nostalgic experiences for couch co-op that you really just don't see anymore.

Yes if you prioritize gameplay over story like me, i personally think it had the best gameplay than all the previous resident evils at that time and the setting was pretty good to me, meanwhile i was indifferent about the story when i finished it, because i was solely focused on gameplay and had a blast playing it, but you might not like if you are only into the story.

@@thebinksake8741 Even the gameplay was crap though. Too many QTEs. Chris was just Gears of War, so I could go play Gears of War instead. Leon's game was Left 4 Dead, so I could go play Left 4 Dead if I wanted that. Jake's game was like some awful Moba game, so I could have just gone and played one of those.

@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork The gameplay and controls are definetly refined and more modernized than the previous Resident Evils. QTEs were also in RE4 and nobody liked them. If you give RE0 up until to RE5 to someone who grew up with more modernized games they would be repulsived by the tank controls and the camera,even though the overrall gameplay is fine and never finish those games. RE6 gets the hate just because the story is garbage, even though the genre is exactly the same as RE4 and RE5, both action surival horror shooters. The setting in RE4 had more horror, but majority was just action. I dont get it about Leon and Chris being a Left 4 Dead and Gears of War characters when they were exactly the same in RE4 and RE5 same with Jake being a moba, he didn't show any superpowers or abilites that you could activate, he was just phisically stronger and the mechanics were the same as the other characters.

@@thebinksake8741 But it's not the same game period. RE is not supposed to feature riding motorcycle segments and flying in helicopters. RE6 is a straight up action game that has very little to do with horror. There is no survival about it at all. Also, the QTEs in RE4 were not as excessive as they were in 6.

Completely agree with RE0 being bottom 3. It’s just too tedious and frustrating to get through. I’ve only fully played through the game once and I’m not interested in going back. I’ll go back and play the train section again, but that might be it. Also, i would personally put Code Veronica down in bottom 3. The early game is awful. The only item boxes at first are where you start and in the mansion. You don’t have access to the facility item box for some time so you constantly have to run all the way up to the mansion and back just to swap around items.

My favorite is re7 it just has the horror element down pact, and playing on madhouse and fighting jack through the house is one of my favorite gaming experiences of my life. Yes the game is short but resident evil was on life support after re6 and re7 literally breathed new life into the franchise, also it's budget was horrendous compared to other resident evils so they cut alot of the content it had. I hope the do a re7 remaster with all the cut content and improved graphics. Not to mention the molded being my favorite enemy type, and Marguerite, the only smears i can think of is lucas being boring without playing dlc, and the ship part.

For me the best RE game is Resident Evil 1 remake. It just captures everything that RE was when it started. Dark atmosphere, standard zombies, puzzles, backtracking and that's also where we see Wesker going insane. It's just amazing to this day, especially with the graphics that haven't aged a bit. If someone asked me what RE series is about, I would just recommend them playing this remake to find out.

Coming from a die hard, obsessed Resident Evil fan, some of my very first memories are watching my cousin play the OGs. 1.) Re4 Re 2.) Re4 3.) Re1 4.) Re2 4.) Re1 Re 6.) Re8 7.) Re2 Re 8.) Re3 8.) Re7 10.) Re5 11.) Re0 12.) Code Veronica 13.) Re3 Re 14.) Re6 (Extras) Re Outbreak 1 & 2 are both great Revelations 1 & 2 were ok but never stood out to me nor seemed like main entries, so not listing them. Code Veronica was all over the place for me, especially at the end of the game. Not to mention Steve whining the entire game. I pretty much love every single game on the list besides Re6 & Re3 Re lol I liked Re3 Re at first but in hindsight, what a disappointment to the original The original Re1 is such a classic and replay ability is off the charts so I had to put it so high

I actually Prefer the dialogue in OG RE 4 for being one of the lowest ranked games in my RE list. I think that the controls just aren’t my thing in this game, especially with RE 5 improving it despite being waaaaaaayyyyy more stressful due to sheva’s AI being just as bad as RE 0

Hot take, I played all these games. My no. 1 is still vanilla RE1 on PSX. It was someting else in atmosphere for me.
