Ehh, the Evans repeater is the first new gun I bought. Love it so far, sounds like a demon when fired which is a plus. Haven't really used against other players. I just grind bounty hunter and use it all the time there. If you don't mind the $300 price tag, and want something with a great ammo capacity, decent fire rate, robust and precise gun. Then it is for you.

I also use the Schofield revolvers preloaded with explosive ammo as anti-griefer weapons and the lever action shotgun with explosive ammo for the same. Plus I run the tank build and I have enough tonics to supply a posse

I always gravitate towards weapons that have historical significance over stats. My favorite revolvers are the Navy Revolver (1851 Colt Navy) and the Cattleman (1873 Colt Single Action Army). My favorite repeater is the Lancaster (1866 Winchester Yellowboy). They might not be the best, but I love them.

Call me a noob but I love the carbine repeater and I think it's best for pve. It seems a little less accurate and slower firing than the Lancaster but the reload speed is very short and can be crucial when fighting multiple enemies.

Remember you don't have to have a best mindset but rather different tools for different applications. The Evans might not be my fav. but I have used its capability of 26 in the pipe to my advantage in certain scenarios. Look at weapons as tools and know each ones strengths and weakness, then choose what is needed for the moment of truth....thx for the vid, great summation.

I have 3 Loadouts for repeaters, because i use shotguns and snipers always. 1. Versatile Loadout. - Dual Navy Revolver or Dual Volcanic Pistol - Lancaster or Carbine - Rolling Block or Carcano. 2. Full Long Range Loadout. - Dual Navy Revolver. - Litchfield or Lancaster (with the scope) - Rolling Block or Carcano. 3. Close Range. -Semi-automatic pistol or Mauser (depending what u like) -Evans or Lancaster. -Semi-auto Shotgun or Pump up shutgun.

I personally love the Lancaster aswell. Some will argue that the bolt action is better, but i find myself reloading way to slowly and often with the bolt action. The fire rate of the bolt action is also pretty bad. If i wanted to use a rifle, id use the springfield. Lancaster has a fast fire rate and a 14 round capacity as well as a fast reload speed. The only problem i have with it is the lancaster's fire sound, it sounds like someone getting beat with a frozen flip flop

The Henry repeating rifle was a MASSIVE boon to any Army unit during the Civil War. Hazard I dig it. It’s damage and accuracy is good and it’s perfect for headshots. I’ve got it paired with a long scope which makes it even better. Ammo capacity is a big drawback for it so that’s why it works well with a repeater

@@hans7046 ahh yes, another player of good culture. People don't realize how great it is for attacking an objective. Maximum 2 shots to kill for PVE, 3 for PVP, and you can engage from farther away. Without headshots, if you use deadeye, you can kill 8 NPCs in one deadeye usage, and then you reload, with the Lancaster, it's 4-5. When you start to get closer you can hip fire and use it as a shotgun, although not the greatest in terms of accuracy from that point, the speed+capacity+damage make it more useful than the shotguns at the same range, and if you're using high velocity ammo...well that's just inhumane.

First repeater I bought was the Evans. It's great for PVE because of the deep magazine but the damage was so anemic it felt like I was putting 3-5 rounds into anyone I didnt headshot. Bought the lancaster today and I dont regret it at all. 1-2 shots is all I need on an enemy, better accuracy, and it's deadly against other players. I love the look and feel of the Evans, but the Lancaster is just a far more solid weapon for the money.

After buying the weapons locker the only long arms I carry are my Lancaster Repeater, Bolt Action Rifle, Varmint Rifle, Rolling Block Rifle, Double Barreled Shotgun, and my bow.

I use almost the same load out but use the Springfield more of the time then the bolt action, if out of effective range of the Lancaster you're in perfect range of the Springfield. I think the bolt action is best when you dont have a repeater equipped. At long range I still fine the Springfield a better rifle do to the bolt actions falloff damage at long ranges. If you are not useing a repeater the bolt action makes a good all rounder. I also keep the pump shotgun on my horse loaded with special ammo. To many time with the double barrel I fire off both barrels when using special ammo wasting shots, so I keep my pump on my horse all ways loaded with incendiary shells.

Kelshando the fall of damage between Springfield and bolt action is no where near what it used to be since the update. Bolt action is probably better now as the difference is so negligible and it has a better fire rate.

@@dixons05 only if you are referring to the natural lock on range. I have found that when engaging beyond the natural lock on range that the spring field hits harder. Especially with explosive ammo. I have hundreds of hours playing and almost all of my pvp is free roam where engagements ranges tend to be longer. Useing paint it black+Springfield has been much more effective out side of the defualt lock on range. With in defualt lock on range the bolt has a minor advantage till you get to about mid range that the bolt takes over the Springfield. At that range though your in range of the Lancaster. That's why I feel that the bolt action is good when you are not useing a repeater. Such as when I'm running a shotgun, I'll pair it with a bolt action. Like in heavy forest or urban fights where ranges are limited and you dont need extreme range. I only use a rolling block if my target hunkers down at extreme range as scoping is rather clunky still and I can remove any fall off damage by using high velocity ammo and the scope on the spring field. Anther note the reload times effected the Springfield as well. It has a higher rate of fire as well.. fast enough to catch dolphin divers at range before they get up.

Lancaster is the best repeater in real life too. The Henry Big Boy (the real name) still shines today. The Litchfield (Henry Original) is still a great, classic repeater but just not as well designed compared to its offspring.

Just an FYI, the “carbine repeater” is modeled after the sharps carbine. What we have in the game is the historical model chambered for 44 rim fire, which became a popular revolver round as it was also used in the 1860 Henry. But by the game era in time, you could get your sharps carbine recalibrated For rounds like the 45/70 gov. A wildly popular large game round of the day. The sharps was such an accurate gun, entire regiments in the civil war were equipped with them and they were known as “sharp shooters”.

I dont think many of them are actually bad. The Litchfield needs either a buff to accuracy to make it like the Lancaster in that regard, but keep the reticule reset so its balanced, or do the opposite and keep the decrease in accuracy and make the reset a bit faster. Still, the damage differences dont make much of a difference at all. The only time I noticed the Litchfields damage is over range or in PvP, given you can make shots.

Allegedly the more you use a gun the better it performs in certain areas...I just picked up the Evans and Litchfield just to try something new...I prefer the Litchfield so far...in regards to hunting can repeaters kill large game animals? Deer, cougar, wolf, elk? Or do you still need a rifle for that? I always carry the varmint so I’m looking for a versatile and reliable #2. I was Springfield all day but it damages Fox and coyotes easily so now that maintaining animal quality is more important to me a repeater might be the way to go...

Repeater for foxes and coyotes and animals like that will spare 3 stars. Varmint for small and bolt/Springfield for large :)

It’s funny cuz the Lancaster has better accuracy than the Evans! The Evans bloom closes so slow and is so jumpy between each shot! Obviously the Lancaster is better overall

I don't play online but if you have some good cover, and time shots well, you can work miracles with the Litchfield Repeater. I don't know if online is different from single player but in single player I tend to use the Litchfield more than any of the other repeater. I would say the Lancaster is probably the best due to its great fire rate, high accuracy, but to me that doesn't stop the Litchfield Repeater from being a great rifle either. It's just different from the Lancaster, and imo takes more skill to shoot. Either way their both great rifles.

I think ima switch to the evans, I miss head shots a lot with the Lancaster because of the bloom. It’s on my part as I panic fire with repeaters (which is why I mostly use bolt actions) but if the evens is more accurate then it’ll probably be better suited for me.

My main setup for now is Lancaster Double Schofields (thinking of switching to LeMats) And whatever other gun I’m using, mainly Pump Action for combat or Bolt Action for hunting

Lancaster is definitely the best imo because it's the most versatile and strong in every area, HOWEVER, I think it can be completely replaced by a different class of gun, THE VOLCANIC PISTOL. Not sure if you're making that pistol video yet or if it's already out but I have to talk about how this pistol is just eliminating my need completely for a repeater and frees up my weapon wheel, because it's basically a single handed repeater. The volcanic is my favorite gun in the game, I duel wield it with long barrels, rifling, and better sights and use high velocity on my right and express on my left. This makes it so I have about 3 bars of damage and/or range. My strategy is go for the head-shot from range with the first H.V. shot, then follow it up with a high damage express shot. Even with standard ammo, this guns base damage is high enough to kill in two body shots or one head-shot. AND it's accuracy has to be like 98 with the sight upgrades. The only big drawback is it's slower fire-rate, which I find completely fine and dual wielding pretty much completely negates this drawback, and the accuracy damage and high magazine capacity as well. You get 16 shots with dual wield and can kill faster than a Lancaster with almost the same range, better accuracy and I think better damage too. The only reason I would ever use a repeater over these pistols is for slightly longer ranges, and I mean SLIGHT. But I find that the Lancaster repeater, as much as I love and respect that gun for being a good gun, there's just not room for it in my EDC in RDO. If I know I'm going into a firefight I'll grab my Lancaster over my varmit or bow as I preemptively know I won't be hunting and would like more ammo. But the Lancaster has overlap use where the bolt action is good and even exceeds the Lancaster in damage, range and accuracy. So when I run bolt action and volcanic, which I regularly do, the Lancaster just kind of becomes a redundant middle ground where both of these guns over lap and do the same job but are also better specialized guns at the same time, the Lancaster is just slightly more versatile and really imo is only more valuable for the more ammo it hold, 200 rounds per bullet type vs 100 with the other guns. My EDC is two volcanics, bolt action, then I run a varmint rifle or bow with small game arrows, this way I can hunt every type of animal to 3 stars, and adequately defend myself. Sometimes I forget Lancaster in matchmaking or when I go to cash in my trades and defend my wagon, it's nice to have, but it's honestly not completely needed as long as you're aware of your spacing and range. There might be like a sweet-spot in medium to long range where it's barely out of my pistol range, but close enough that the Lancaster can exceed my bolt action in rate of fire, that's the only moment I miss it, which is honestly rare and it's a very narrow window.

Pretty much agree. The Volcanic is closest thing we'll get to a Mare's Leg in the game and is pretty much on par with any repeater. I don't rely on Express rounds, though, as I feel the drop-off in damage at range isn't worth it. So I'll dual-wield a pair of Volcanics with High-V and stay as far back as I can. The secret beauty of the Volcanic's long range is that people will assume you couldn't hit them from that far out with a mere handgun.
