these types of videos would really benefit from some sort of onscreen visual of your rankings, preferably updated with each new ranking, but at least something at the end.

I spent the whole video waiting to see where he put Empires of the Void. I even, when he commented occasionally that he liked a game okay but found the art offputting, thought to myself "wow he really doesn't seem to like Jamey doing his own art for his games." Only when I got to the end and thought to myself "that's it?" did I realize I was thinking of Ryan Laukat and Red Raven Games. I even nodded along when he mentioned Wyrmspan and Scythe and Tapestry and was still thinking he left out Near and Far and Sleeping Gods. All this to say he should probably do a Red Raven video if only for my own sanity, and that both designers should think it a compliment that I jumbled them together in my brain.

With Stonemaier taking over the Tokiado line and saying that aside from adding solo play they wouldn’t be changing the game, where would those rank for you?

I have to agree with your take on Wingspan. The birds didn’t land for me but the mechanics did so much so that it inspired my own game Build-a-Cult. Much more interesting card play and narrative experience.

You did a great job with that one. It was a sleeper hit at a four-day gaming convention a couple of weeks ago.
Did you forget Charterstone? Really nice intro legacy game. Tons of fun and variety.
@matturian9849Ай бұрын
I was curious to see how Charterstone would be ranked. Sitting on my shelf of shame and I want to get it tabled!

He mentioned it right after Wyrmspan. But he didn’t label it.

Allplay/Boardgame tables would be awesome to see. Pandasarus and Devir would also be cool to see. Libertalia is likely be my favorite Stonemeier game! The first time my wife turned to me and thanked me for looking into games to find such a good game.

I second this, there are so many small Allplay games now, I would like to know which ones are really worth my time.

I only noticed Devir when I got Lacrimosa, and now I keep seeing games I like with their stamp on the front, like Ierusalem. It makes me think I'm going to like Hard Rock 1977 specifically because they made it (and also I support music themed games)

I'll never understand your preference for Everdell over Wingspan, but I'm probably in the minority within the hobby. And your rating for Scythe is hurtful! : )
@wouter9437Ай бұрын
Your explanation of the game combined with your enthusiasm gives a great insight into what the game is like. Still, sometimes a visual addition like an image might be helpful for me to truly understand your thoughts. Unsure how this would be implemented in your more talkative focussed videos
@gravecac9522Ай бұрын
Expeditions is my favorite one (5). I enjoy it at all player counts, and find the puzzle and theme right in my wheelhouse. I think at the next tier for me is Viticulture and Stamp Swap (4.5). And finally Wingspan and Apiary (4). Those are my favorites.
@TheFamilyCrockerАй бұрын
Didn't I watch you review Stamp Swap? I didn't see it on this list
@ST-ph2vjАй бұрын
Decent List and i agree with you, settling Wingspan, Scythe and Red Rising in kind of the "middle" here. Apiary and Viticulture definitely belong to the higher rankings - first for its interconnected mechanics, the second for its (visual) simplicity. As a family we do love Tokaido the most, as a kind of finisher for the day, because that one is really a relaxing and decently simple designed game. We haven't played Wyrmspan yet, but it would look like it could kind-of replace Wingspan in the long run. As per question, i'd be curious about your opinion on Eagle-Griphon Games (they house Vital Lacerda's stuff)
@steevemanАй бұрын
Alex, always love your content. I would vote for a review of Devir games. I think their games are underrated, maybe because of their box size. IDK. Thank you.
Garphill, Devir, Pegasus Spiel, iello, AEG, and/or Rio Grande would be great!

I totally get your arguments for every game, still my ranking of these games is completely different. At the end of the day, personal taste differs and that is a good thing. For example I recently sold Expeditions even though I tried to like it so hard. But since I look for interaction in games and I am getting rid of every "solitaire together" game I own (last week even Terraforming Mars) Expeditions indeed is my least favorite game of the list.

The only good part of Tapestry is it being unbalanced. Allows you to handicap all the players. The game play of just pick a track is what sinks it.
