Welcome to our KZbin series, where we embark on an exciting journey of comparing and ranking every adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's timeless masterpiece, Anna Karenina! In this introductory video, we'll lay out the criteria we'll be using to evaluate these adaptations and give you a glimpse of which versions we'll be reviewing.
Here's a brief outline of the plot of Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina:
Anna Karenina tells the story of two parallel love affairs in Russian high society. The eponymous character, Anna Karenina, is a married woman who falls deeply in love with Count Vronsky while trying to navigate the constraints of her unhappy marriage. Their passionate affair triggers a series of complex consequences, including societal judgment and personal turmoil.
Meanwhile, another narrative thread follows the relationship between Levin, a wealthy landowner, and Kitty, a young woman initially infatuated with Vronsky. Levin's sincere love for Kitty sees them overcome obstacles and eventually marry, providing a stark contrast to Anna and Vronsky's turbulent romance.
So, whether you're a die-hard fan of Anna Karenina or a newcomer curious to discover the best adaptation, this series is for you! Join us as we dive into the world of love, passion, and tragedy, comparing and ranking each adaptation to find out which one does justice to Tolstoy's magnum opus. Don't forget to hit that subscribe button and stay tuned for the thrilling episodes to come!
Note: Adaptation rankings will be based on a mix of subjective analysis and a consideration of critical reception and fan opinions. The aim is to provide an informative and entertaining exploration of the rich tapestry of Anna Karenina adaptations.

In Russia there's a new docudrama series called The Secrets of Karenina telling about the prototypes of the characters. It uses some of the adaptations and I became interested in them. So I came across your videos. They seem REALLY INTERESTING! Please make more!

Hi I am from the Philippines, the Anna Karenina series (with the 3 female leads), is not an adaptation nor was it inspired by the Tolstoy novel. The title is just a namesake and nothing related to Tolstoy or his novel. But it does briefly appear, as the one of the characters inspiration to name her daughter, which she lost and must later identify among the 3 leads.

Tatyana Samojlova is the best. Followed by Sophie Marceau, who was great too. ... Not a big fan of the 2012's movie... The actors are good, the costumes look good, but there's something 'off' about that version.
