Gotta admit, for all of the monsters Stine came up with, Slappy was the most unnerving. I think a lot of that stems from how intelligent he is, but the fact that he treats everything he does as a little more than a game certainly helps. Slappy's moments of quiet menace are when he's at his scariest. There's a clear confidence that he *will* carry out his threats and there's nothing you can do about it.

TV Show is definitely the winner for me. His look is really WEIRD looking and his voice is perfect. It's a voice that can make you laugh and also hide under your covers. I find a good contrast between Scary Slappy and Funny Slappy is given right in the beginning of "Bride of the Living Dummy" when we go from Slappy cackling evilly as he sets up the deal with his new slave before transitioning to a show with Slappy telling jokes. Perfect voice. Though the one time he was played by an actor in a suit, he just looks stupid there, especially when you can see the actors mouth behind the mask.

tv show slappy's voice is perfect because it encapsulates that 30s - 60s tone and dialect, a time period where dummy puppets were the most popular. That or it's because this idea was from the twilight zone episode which was made during that time period.

Okay I know that I am a bit late to the party, but I must point out that the 90s Slappy doesn't resemble the book Slappy as much as the Movie Slappy. However, I will admit that the voice was a million times more creepier than Jack Black's given voice. But if I had to choose my top version of the character... then without a doubt it would have to be the movie Slappy, just because of how much more clever and powerful he seems to be. Of course that is just my own opinion. Loved this Slappy ranking, dude. Great job! 🤵😁👍👍

For me TV show Slappy wins hands down. Yes his look is different, but I think he's scarier. Voice is great, and he does some really unsettling things like turning Zane into a dummy and possessing a kid. I'd say he has some of the best episodes right behind the haunted mask.

My favourite is definitely the tv show It was kinda corny but the voice was downright terrifying and it made him look like pure evil The movie version was much less creepy but they made him look powerful and I think it was good how they made him like the book The laugh wasn’t nearly as creepy as the tv show though. I don’t really like the second movie but I liked his powers and I feel like he was a bit more similar to the tv show in actions Overall, I love both versions but I strongly prefer the tv version to be honest Also, if they were to make a night of the living dummy one tv episode in the ninety’s I would’ve used Dennis the dummy with his hair dyed ginger/blonde and the same voice. Dennis, even though we only really hear him once, was extremely creepy and I love his demonic laugh at the end. I would love to know who voiced him as he has a great spooky voice. My best bet would be the voice actor of goofy from Mickey Mouse. It was very reminiscent of him and as of that being my childhood show, I find it tricky to be scared by that twist ending. I just laugh most of the time 😂 I really like the NOTLD 2 episode. The ending also left me on a cliff hanger and I always imagined that Dennis beat up the Kramer family after the cameras cut. I also love this episode as of the atmosphere in many of the scenes. I had nightmares about slappy walking through my hallway. He didn’t do anything else, he just walked through my hallway over and over again and it petrified me 😂 I feel like the third notld episode was the most well made. Not bride, but the one from season 2 was the most well made. You can see that by watching it and then watching bride of the living dummy. Or pretty much any other season 3 episode 😂 Even though I know that the one from season two is the best, I can’t help myself from being bias to the first one. As it was one of the first ones I ever saw so the nostalgia blinds me 😂 it’s a bit like deep trouble. I know that it isn’t a very good episode but i can’t help myself but love it as it was the first one I saw. I thought it was good at the time when I was younger but know it doesn’t hold up to most people although I love the nostalgia that comes with watching it. If I were to rank all the goosebumps episodes, I wouldn’t know where to place it. However I do have my top two: 1: The scarecrow walks at midnight 2: A Night in terror tower 3: Either Stay Out of the basement off red welcome to dead house ( I can’t decide lol 😂) Scarecrow walks at midnight is scary, but well made and acted at the same time. The ending is dark and the best in the show by far. And, I watched this not long back and it still holds up. The first time I saw this was when I was ten and I instantly fell in love with it. I enjoyed every minute of it and I had nightmares for weeks of the dream scene with the scarecrow in her room Some people hate on a night in terror tower but I love it. I think out of all of the episodes this addressed my biggest fear: being forgotten. The episode is so well written and I love that flash back scene and when they finally realise that they are in the medival period. With these next two I couldn’t decide, I’ve went back and forth for a long time now but I now think they are both amazing in their own way. Stay Out of the basement is utterly horrifying and I believe it is scarier than the haunted mask. Welcome to dead house is by far one of the most well written and acted episodes in the series and both are extremely dark and don’t pull and punches. Overall I love the show and it is probably the best kids horror of all time 10/10

I believe the original thought process behind the 90's TV show version of Slappy, was that this specific dummy we see in this show was originally intended to be the main villain from the 1st NOTLD; Mr. Wood. The physical appearance of Slappy from the 90's show much more resembles Mr. Wood (Red hair, pale skin, etc.). In the 1st book, Mr Wood is described looking exactly like Slappy except having the red hair, a green and red flannel, blue jeans, and high white top sneakers opposed to the dark hair, tan skin, and suit we see Slappy with. I think they just gave him a suit and tie at the last minute because they realized the budget to make another dummy for the show that much more resembles the Slappy we see on the original front book covers, was going to be extensive. It looks like they were going to shoot the first book but didn't go through with it. Just my thought

@@cookiesontoast9981 it's so weird, because the people that are hired to do audio books most of the time unless they are a big name, celebrity or well known author really don't try too hard with the voices in the books, and of course, if you have a female reading the book, they're definitely not gonna be able to do a very good male voice, they just can't hit that deep. So, of course, slappy is gonna sound off, I was really hoping he was gonna go by appearance and personality/how threatening the doll is.
