*Spoilers for IRIS (2009)* I was obsessed with IRIS and literally in the last few minutes the lead dies. I was so pissed for a solid 24 hours afterwards. However, it did introduce me to Lee Byung Hun so I guess it's a net gain.

no REAL the c-drama/historical k-drama miscommunication trope drives me crazy every 5-10 episodes the main leads have to clear up a conflict between them that wasn't even real just cause they overheard a conversation from some randoms ...like come on now we have already been through this😑...

Summer Strike is such a beautiful drama to me though 😭. It was the first one I watched where I was locked in the entire time. Every time I watch a kdrama there’s always a section of 2-3 episodes where I’m literally bored out of my mind. But I got through Summer Strike in like 2 days. The two main leads were just so sweet to me.

@angelaayivor I'd put a warning for spoilers at the start of the video. I don't find. The ones that talk about the ending, I'd put at the very end with a second warning. Besides that, tropes are just a format of the drama. The details are what make or break it. If you do a part 2 please add the brother/cousin plot line. Why do they want us to ship out FL with someone she thought was her brother her whole life?!

I’m so sick of one of the leads overhearing something outside the door or in an elevator and now you don’t confess. Like you don’t ask the person directly or don’t try to find out the truth yourself and now you look like a fool crying and throwing up when the other mc is confused and really loves you.

One other thing i’ve noticed with kdramas, and this has happened with like dramas from before 2020, and it still happens with some dramas: If the show is 16 episodes, the lead or some important character ends up in the hospital from a serious accident or injury in episode 10 or 13. Idk how i noticed this, or if this is even considered a trope. But it’s interesting that like clockwork, it’s most generally either of those 2 episodes that it happens.

SPOILERS for Mr. Plankton: 18:40 Mr. Plankton is an example of this trope. I was still holding out hope that maybe it would end well but I was sorely mistaken 😭

The whole male lead that treats you like ASS but realizes he’s in love with you trope, is what had me screaming at my TV while watching Mr. Plankton. Like I loved those characters when they were separate, but put them together and I will find a way to project myself into the show and ruin everyone’s day cause they wanna waste mine. 19:13 not related but this just reminded me of TwentyFive TwentyOne depicting the 9/11 attacks, which they treated it with respect while giving a different perspective of survivors. But I was NOT expecting 9/11 to happen in a kdrama, it was such a strong tone compared to the rest of the story which could also be the point of the writers/producers.

How in the world did a relationship blossom out of this😭😭😭 Also, speaking of tropes, a Kdrama I feel started out as S-tier and halfway through swiftly dropped to c and f-tier is Oh My Ladylord. I feel like it would be a cool show to review as many people like it, but I feel its toxic main relationship sort of rivals Boys over Flowers.

The random murder plot is so ridiculous: A time called you??:Bro the time travel was enough and the murder was too much for me to follow Summer Strike: is my girl out here running after criminals and fighting battles. Like I honestly would’ve moved towns if I were here but I realise that she didn’t have the means to do so. When the Camellia Blooms: I don’t mind this one as much cus the ml was a detective so it made sense honestly

idk i really like when this happens? 😂😭 maybe cause i'm eating up the whole crime/thriller genre in general and appreciate a gripping subplot - but when its mixed with romance and the "saving each other from danger" trope? chefs kiss, baby 😙🤌 a time called you and lovely runner were prime examples.

18:58 - the most egregious example of this trope is Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. Nothing in the promotional materials, posters reviews or numerous edits told me the most terrifying man in the world’s scariest mask was going to come in and haunt the plot. It was literally all goofs and gags until that jump scare.

In Goblin, with the 2nd couple, grrr I loved it so much because in the first life, dude was the king and caused home girl to end herself, and in their 2nd life, he was the grim reaper and she left him and eventually died, but in their 3rd lives, they were just normal people that came together again😢😢😢😢 I ate it up so bad! Lovely Runner lives in my head and heart rent-free😭😭🤌🏽 a masterpiece and idc who wants to fight me on that, I'll die on that hill!

Idk if you already heard of this drama, It’s called Love scout. It’s basically abt a rich female lead who lives a rather sad life and her new secretary, the male lead, who’s a single father(his daughter is so cute!!). It’s such a comfortable watch. Mind you, the 5 Episode just came out today.

i can’t stand this oh my god, i hateee miscommunication with a burning passion, its so annoying, and yea the best friends always give the worst advice ever the most annoying one i can think of off the top of my head is the cdrama Only For Love, the girl initially approached the guy for revenge ( her bf cheated on her and she misunderstood and thought that girls uncle was the guy, later it’s revealed he’s the guys driver ) buttt yea there’s like a 6 episode breakup that’s soo infuriating cause they keep like trying to talk to eachother but they keep blocking eachother, plus there’s a love triangle going on too but the last few episodes feed us my god, the steam is crazy

I wouldn't call this a main couple trope. Its more so a side character trope. I really can't stand it when a side character is so obsessed with the main lead that they turn into a villain, trying to ruin the two leads relationship. It’s even more annoying when one of the main leads barely interacted with them enough for me to like sympathize with the whole unrequited love thing. The show just does a random flashback of one of the main leads saying "bless you" after the side character sneezed in high school (I'm being dramatic but like these interactions that made them so in love with one of the leads are so insignificant) and now they've got this whole arc of trying to destroy anyone who might be interested in the lead. Like stand up and walk this rejection off. If you even want to call it that. Some of these side characters barely uttered even one word to the lead and they become villainous. They give me sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much secondhand embarrassment.

Summer struck is my fav because it's slow 🔥. But I can't forgive them they killed grandma. The alcohol addicted dad was horrible and understood why she acted out to her friend and not the perfect rich boyfriend. I liked the single father ( I forgot his name) end with the second female lead. I liked that both leads are awkward around each other, and nothing happened between them until the last episode.

I haven't been following you for long, did you already do a video when they cast the main leads and there is zero chemistry and one of them has no personality? I've come across this a few times and it is such a slog to watch so sometimes I just give up but I did watch the entire season of K2 hating Anna for 20 episodes or whatever it was. It didn't help that K2 had more chemistry with her evil stepmother. I seriously wanted a cougar ending.
