Duke De Puce was soo lame it was great. A bastard momma's boy who became an opportunistic rebel at the right time to grab some power. And he used it to eat some good food and then nothing else really. And from looking at his face he probably had some kind of STD's, like a real rat bastard. Also it never skipped my mind that "De Puce"--Puss--Pussy" is not far off.

Lady Seren actually does quite a lot in the story, she's just always in the background. She holds the traitorous Edwin captive, double-crosses Barclay to relieve William's and Matthew's siege, and shelters the King in her Abbey (which becomes an important place of battle). She is also kind-hearted and has a love affair with William. While she doesn't have as much screen time, she definitely has more to show than the rest of the C Tier group.

I mean the rat is not charismatic but as you said definitely iconic, was also very much surprised to see him so low. But he seems to rank weak characters lower than strong characters, this might have influenced this. Also in my opinion the useless king in s2 should be C tier. Most boring king I have ever seen, useless whenever he appears in the campaign, no authority AT ALL and a coward.

Good point. Both the Rat and the Sultan stand out. The Rat is an arrogant jerk and fun to squash, and the Sul-Tahn quotes poetry in his stupid little round base. I love that they made characters with a wide range of skill and strategy, and even comical ones.

The Wolf bamboozled me on the last mission in OG Stronghold. After finally managing to take out his defences and got into the inner keep, i carched my swordsman towards him, all at once, only to be burnt alive by the pitch in front of his keep 🤦‍♂️. I exited the game and took a good week break, I felt soo decimated.

I would rank Snake even higher but Rat doesn't really stand out to me, I thought putting him higher would be too biased because I loved Stronghold 1 more than every other game!

I have to disagree on William. While personality-wise, he's fun, you overrate his usefulness. In the economic campaign, the King outright says he's on crusades and courting while bandits and wolves harass his land and the player has to prevent his estate from starving. Also, his Royal Champion title was literally handed over by the player who fixed up all the neglects in his estates. Ignoring him handing over the Royal Guard to Pascal, he frees Edwin, a guy who attacked Sir Grey previously and a known unreliable traitor. He then let himself capturing by following Edwin to Olaf. Apart from that, he leaves Matthew Steele at the mercy of Olaf because "you need more than troops to win a war". He then proceeds to play hero against armies that vastly outnumber him, only to have the player (again) clean up his mess. So overall, in terms of usefulness, he's a loyal, yet inept, suicidal moron.

Very interesting view and I can hardly disagree with any of those points. But you still have to give him a charismatic bonus+grace. I rather disliked the king in S2, whenever he appeared he was freaking useless. In the last mission(good) his attackside was the weakest or in the other last mission(bad) his castle was so easily overrun compared to lord Barkley's castle. He feels like a coward without any authority nor competence.

@@Empobaer To be fair with the King, he was poisoned and his royal guard was disbanded, so he had to hide. The King wasn't too interesting in SH1 either. Sure, William has a certain charm but he's kind of an inept hero, making Matthew's optional betrayal kinda justified. I must say I really enjoy putting him down, lol.

Too many thoughts: How is rat so low on the list, the men is a living meme. Anyway; Since that video on proving that Emir is more dangerous than previously given credit for, He grew more to me; I like to imagine him being a hidding genius, but to desinteressed in mortal affairs to actually be a threat. But these characters of the second trail in Stronghold Crusader never appealed to me, they are too generic and unoriginal. I noticed that the first trail has the following: The 4 of Stronghold, 2 historical characters (1 European 1 Middle-eastern) and Two Arabic warlords (One good and one evil) The second trail add two European Historical figure; 4 Middle Easterns (3 variations of Caliph and the Emir, who is himself a variation of the Sultan.) And two random European IA (Abbot: A fanatical Christian and the Xeriff, like in Robin Hood.) This second part is wrong, they should include +2 famous middle eastern historical figure to keep the balance. Also, they should start by including one nice european crusader (maybe a pilgrim protector) and one bad european (a Normandic looter).

Marshal, Abbot and Nizar were pretty interesting due to very specific usage of units ( their power was different thing ), Frederick was awfuly balanced ( imo he should be someone as "good" Wolf ) and should not require billion years to build castle and economy. Nazir is lacking personality? Well, yes but it's hard to expect from XII-th century Special Forces Operator to be overly talkative. If something SHC missed Byzantine lord and Mongol Khan. Both factions played important part during Crusade wars. Also beyond Abbot lack of any form of order of knights. In case of Emir I always recognized him as someone between Saladin and Sultan. Not as bright as Saladin but infinitely more strategist than Sultan with mixure of positive things from both. Maybe some of their relative? ;) Son of Sultan? ;) Wazir was too similar to Caliph in personality and beyond castle shape he was too similar. King Phillippe was made too much meme in comparison to the real life counterpart. Sheriff personality of ultra greedy sob was funny as same as is castle after setting fire... Marshal and Abbot as they were inportant caracters in SH1 imo they fit concept. Marshal is old lord, he loves war but he has too much to lost. His "unlce" personality was ok. Still Abbot making all this gallows in castle looks pretty different from Good Monk in SH1.

Ranking them into tier list seems pretty hard considering everyone has a different opinion So I'll do it like this (in no specific order): Wolf - Ganondorf of the Stronghold franchise - His Stronghold 3 counterpart is how I imagine Ganondorf's ideal voice. I wish that'll be the case in upcoming Breath of the Wild 2 Saladin - my favorite lord in Stronghold Crusader - I wish he was my dad 😢 Sir William - IMO the poster boy of the Stronghold franchise as a whole - I seem to often imagine having him in Smash Bros Caliph - the most funniest lord in Stronghold Crusader, because of his lines and his AI logic

Yeah I can definitely agree with Rat being too low, he was really funny especially on Stronghold 1 I think I would move Rat to A and Barclay to B Most of the Stronghold Crusader characters are rated B because they're not as rich in terms of lore (This game has lore?) compared to characters from Stronghold 1 or Stronghold 2

Overall Wolf, Snake, William, Bull, Caliph and Richard would be in my S Tier. I don't like the crusader version of the pig, his defence is too weak and his armies are too small imo. But nice work overall

Olaf is really the best vilain in S2, he is so feared that Barclay and the others Just appear when you kill him. And defeating him, wich is pretty darn hard, earns respect enough for you to choose sides. I cant express that enough, but the truth is that you cant think in anyone Else in the game while he is still alive and kicking; and harassing your borders. Im quite proud to have him as my personal enemy in the campaing.

Come on, Barclay is the best character by far, the wolf is just always talking about how bitter he is and how he wants to torture you and he is so cold and calculated and bloodthirsty he is byt at the end of the day he has 0 caracter beyond that. Barclay is relatively cold and calculated as well, but he has other motives and even says it is a shame you are not on his side and together you could have made the country great again.

I only played the stronghold crusader. I really liked almost all the original lords. Their lines feels real and they all have very defining personality. The added lords however almost all (if not all) felt dull and flat. This added lords lines sounds superficial. One moment that hammers this down for me is when you defeat them. All the original lords reaction to their defeat really sells their personality. Rat is really cowardice, snake tries to deceive you, saladin being the wise, wolf tries to keep his own pride, lionheart acknowledge your skills. While the added ones all pretty much say "oh well, this is just a game, see you next time".

Looking back at this video again, seeing Bishop and Queen not rated i do think i can think of things. Bishop could be in C, i think he is in same vein as Abbot and like that his lines mention his larger connection to the Church itself with threats to communication, he is just meh with a few lines in the campaing. The Queen not being in campaing is dull but her lines on Kingmaker are really fun. Like having a Royal Warrant for your head or such, also having her be an actual strong AI really gives power to her lines. Its defo a very entertaining AI with good voice acting and i see her in A tier easily. As for like 30 other characters that have been in Stronghold... that may be for another time.

The Caliph is just straight up annoying. His constant taunts and that high pitched voice of his, annoys the crap outta me. Also his peskiness is doubled down when you defeat him.
