Bro I love tofu pudding 😭😭 it’s been one of my faves since childhood! But I totally agree with Jared that chicken feet are not worth the effort 😂

Dim sum cravings totally activated after watching this video and I only just had it yesterday 😂 We don’t have curry cuttlefish here at yum cha in Australia! I wish we did, though! Omg there needs to be an episode where Jared orders everything HE wants. I wonder how different it would be compared to the typical family ones 😂

Two dishes I don't think I saw (but I may have missed) where Char Siu Sou (roast pork in flaky pastry) and Dau Miu Gow (Pea Shoot Dumplings). These are two of my faves and I always order them whenever they're available. Fun video, really enjoyed seeing how others feel about some of my favorite cuisine!

I've never heard of Dau Miu Gow, but that sounds really good!
@BWTF_Ben
@BWTF_Ben 2 жыл бұрын
@@cantobritt I think part of the issue is how expensive Dau Miu has become post-pandemic. Once upon a time you could get a pound for about $3-5/lb. However, it's skyrocketed to about $8/pound (at least in NYC) so many of my fave restaurants have stopped making it. Generally it is Dau Miu and shrimp (sometimes other stuff) in a white wrapper and they're wonderful. If you ever see it, I highly recommend it! :)

There's probably one day out of the year I could eat dim sum all day. I'd put ha gow and xiu Mai on the top tiers, along with, egg tart. For me, I like Cheung fun up higher. Strangely as a kid though, daofu fa was a favorite of mine, but no so much as I've gotten much older. I kind of liken it to grass jelly but not as good...some nice rankings here.

Hi, new subscriber here. Brittany, has anyone ever commented that you look like a Chinese Hailee Steinfeld? Your smile makes the resemblance even stronger!! I’m that one person at home who is bummed out that Brittany doesn’t like 豆腐花!! It tastes great when paired with a savoury topping (Chinese preserved vegetables) or a sweet one (brown sugar). I love it to death.

Lava Custard Bun and Sweet custard bun are two different items. Lava uses salted egg yolk and I have no idea what the sweet custard bun one is made of but it doesn't have salted egg yolk.

What do you think of foo jook gurn (pork rolled in yuba skin and steamed), the ngull yook Kull (big beef meatballs flavored with tangerine peel) or ji ma gurn (black sesame roll). These are some of my faves! That was a fun video! Phoenix claws are a good source of collagen!!

Fu zuk gyun when I was little would be F, but now is an A! Zi maa gyun is around B or C, depending on my mood. Ngau juk kau (?) if we’re thinking of the same thing would be B for me! Not something I’d get myself but if someone ordered, I’d probably eat it happily

NIce video. I agree with your assessment of steamed pork buns; depending on the restaurant, you can get too much bun and very little meat. Speaking of pork buns, my S tier dim sum item would be crispy baked BBQ Pork Buns (酥皮焗叉燒包). The baked bun has a crispy top kinda like a pineapple bun. I was introduced to it at Tim Ho Wan in Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong. It is so awesome that THW are now in the US. I tried the THW (Hell's Kitchen in NYC) and it tastes the "same", but I still like the HK version better.

I would say it also depends on where you go and how they make it. Like egg tart usually is good, but if its poorly made, one might have a different perspective on it. Also is durian puffs considered a dim sum dish?
