Fun fact that lion may actually be the same on villas, and prepared is also similar to ready. This is because some of the early founders of the club and some of the players were Rangers supporters and are claret colour is apparently the way it is due to one of our background staff being a hearts supporter who suggested to colours

Heyo- St Mirren fan here. The 'chess board' actually refers to the tablecloth used on the desk of the old Scottish Exchequer, the chief finance officer of the pre-1707 Kingdom of Scotland- the use of the chequed tablecloth gave the position its name. The position was traditionally held by a high ranking member of Clan Stewart (or as you guys probably know them, the House of Stuart) who originated in Renfrewshire, where St Mirren are from. The middle part of the team badge is taken from the crest of Paisley. We've changed badged numerous times mostly keeping this same template- the black and white stripes at the top are a nod to our pre-1990s badge which had a castellation on it which the Lord Lyon, who is in charge of Scottish coats of arms, revoked the permission of use for.
